Materials Management and Logistics Specialist
Location: Houston, Texas (Onsite)
Role Overview
This role serves as the Materials Management owner for project readiness across assigned construction and capital projects. The specialist will ensure critical materials and equipment are visible, tracked, and aligned to project execution milestones. This position involves monitoring long-lead equipment, coordinating with various stakeholders to mitigate risks, and providing leadership-ready reporting on material status and supplier performance.
Key Responsibilities
Education: A Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Business Administration, Operations, Engineering, Construction Management, Project Management, or a related field is required. Equivalent utility, construction, supply chain, project controls, or materials management experience may be considered.
Experience: 8-10 years of relevant experience is required.

Materials Management and Logistics Specialist

Role Overview
This role serves as the Materials Management owner for project readiness across assigned construction and capital projects. The specialist will ensure critical materials and equipment are visible, tracked, and aligned to project execution milestones. This position involves monitoring long-lead equipment, coordinating with various stakeholders to mitigate risks, and providing leadership-ready reporting on material status and supplier performance.
Key Responsibilities
- Serve as the single point of accountability within Materials Management for material readiness across assigned capital projects.
- Develop and maintain project-specific material readiness plans aligned with engineering requirements, purchase orders, and construction milestones.
- Monitor the delivery status for long-lead and critical-path equipment, including transformers, breakers, switchgear, and other strategic materials.
- Track supplier commitments, manufacturing milestones, factory testing dates, shipment timing, and logistics status.
- Identify schedule slippages, manufacturing constraints, quality holds, and other supplier risks before they impact construction.
- Coordinate with internal teams, EPC contractors, and suppliers to secure recovery plans for at-risk materials.
- Facilitate recurring material readiness reviews with project stakeholders.
- Maintain clear action logs to track open issues, accountable owners, and resolution status.
- Develop and maintain reports that provide visibility to critical equipment status, material constraints, and risk ratings.
- Partner with Engineering and Operations to evaluate strategic spare utilization and material substitution options.
- Escalate material readiness concerns with clear facts, business impact analysis, and recommended decisions.
- Document lessons learned and recommend process improvements.

- Proficiency in inventory management systems and Microsoft Excel.
- Knowledge of supply chain, logistics, and procurement principles.
- Familiarity with shipping, receiving, and warehouse operations.
