Job description
Motion and Video Designer
Who we are, what we do & why we do it:
Dext is a fast-growing fintech transforming bookkeeping through AI and machine learning. Our platform empowers accountants, bookkeepers, and businesses to simplify accounting processes and make smarter, more timely financial decisions.
In 2024, Dext joined the IRIS Software Group, further strengthening our ability to deliver end-to-end accountancy solutions. We’ve achieved 99.5% data accuracy, saved over 35 million hours of manual data entry, and are trusted by 12,000 firms and 700,000 businesses globally. With integrations across all major accounting software and over 11,500 financial sources, we’re proud to be at the forefront of innovation in the accounting space. 🚀
We are seeking an experienced and high-impact Motion and Video Designer to bring motion and short-form video to life across paid social, brand campaigns, and product launches.
The role, what you’ll do:
This is a role for someone who makes things move; literally and figuratively. You'll bring motion and short-form video to life across paid social, brand campaigns, product launches, and everything in between, building a creative capability the whole business can draw on. You'll own the craft end-to-end: concepting, animating, shooting where needed, and shipping work that earns attention and performs in-market.
The priority is paid social, but the scope is broad. If it moves, it's yours. The person who thrives here is a maker first. They don't need a producer above them or a coordinator beside them. They shoot, animate, edit, and ship, and they care as much about hook rate as they do about how it looks.
This opportunity would not suit a static graphic designer who occasionally exports a GIF. The core craft is motion and footage; if that's not where your energy lives, this probably isn't the right role.
Key responsibilities
Concept, animate and produce high-performing motion and video content for paid social, organic, display and video platforms; from hooks and headlines to full creative variants that earn attention and drive performance in-market.
Create and adapt creative end-to-end for Meta, LinkedIn, and emerging channels, with a clear understanding of how format, pacing, and platform convention shape what performs.
Shoot and edit short-form, vertical-first video for paid and organic social (TikTok, Reels, Shorts, LinkedIn video), bringing the same creative instinct to what you capture on camera as to what you animate.
Own the full production pipeline where needed: sourcing and briefing colleagues or external contributors, organising locations and schedules, and running shoots.
Develop scalable motion systems and template libraries (hooks, cut-downs, end-cards, sound beds) so volume can scale without a from-scratch brief every time.
Integrate AI tools into creative workflows to accelerate production, generate variants at scale, and improve efficiency without sacrificing craft.
Track how assets perform against paid and organic KPIs (hook rate, watch-through, CTR) and iterate based on what the data shows.
Socialise work across the business: share what's performing, what it teaches, and help stakeholders feel empowered to brief into the capability.
About you, what we are looking for:
You're naturally curious and excited by the craft. You watch content and think about why it works, not just what it looks like, so you arrive at briefs with ideas already forming.
You're collaborative and self-sufficient, and you thrive as part of a team with a shared point of view. You're comfortable approaching people across the business, whether in Product, Sales or Marketing, to pull a piece of content together.
You care about the work landing, not just being made, and once it's out you're invested in how it performs, what it teaches the team, and how it shapes the next brief. You take creative direction well and use feedback to sharpen your work. You know the job doesn't end at execution: it ends when the business knows what to do with it.
Experience producing motion and/or video content in-house, agency side, or as a creator
A portfolio of shipped brand assets: campaign visuals, social videos, paid creative
Proficiency across Figma and Adobe Creative Suite (After Effects, Premiere Pro, Photoshop, Illustrator)
Motion skills across 2D animation; 3D and AI tooling (Runway, Pika, generative tools) are a strong advantage
Experience creating channel-native short-form content; you understand hook structure, platform specs, safe zones, and why pacing matters.
Understanding of what drives conversion from a motion design perspective: competitor awareness, CTR benchmarks, and the creative principles behind what performs.
