Warrior Tribe Consulting (WTC) is a federal staffing and recruiting firm supporting the Social Security Administration''s (SSA) Cobalt Program in Woodlawn, MD. We''ve been engaged to fill specifically allocated Data Scientist roles as part of SSA''s CIO organization data and analytics modernization initiative. This is a federal GS-13/14/15 position with SSA — a great opportunity to break into the federal space with long-term stability and growth.

Role Responsibilities:

  • Analyze large-scale federal datasets to support SSA program integrity, benefits administration, and operational decision-making
  • Design, build, and deploy statistical models and machine learning solutions to support data-driven insights
  • Clean, transform, and engineer features from complex, high-volume datasets
  • Develop data visualizations and dashboards to communicate findings to technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including data engineers, analysts, and program leadership
  • Document methodologies, model assumptions, and findings for federal compliance and audit purposes
  • Participate in Agile/SAFe delivery ceremonies and technical design reviews

Required Qualifications:

  • 8+ years of professional data science/analytics experience (14+ years preferred for GS-14/15 consideration)
  • Hands-on experience with Python, R, SQL, Pandas, NumPy, Scikit-learn
  • Experience with machine learning frameworks (TensorFlow/PyTorch) and statistical modeling
  • Experience with data visualization tools (Tableau, Power BI)
  • Experience with large-scale enterprise or federal/government data systems (HHS, CMS, SSA, or similar preferred)
  • Demonstrated experience in model building, deployment, and communicating insights to leadership
  • Strong understanding of federal IT security, compliance, and change-control processes
  • Bachelor''s degree in Data Science, Statistics, Computer Science, or related field (equivalent specialized experience considered)
  • U.S. Citizenship required

Background & Suitability Requirements:

  • This is a federal government role requiring a background investigation, fingerprinting, and drug test as a condition of employment
  • Ability to obtain and maintain Public Trust clearance
  • Candidates must pass all federal suitability screening prior to start date

Preferred Qualifications (GS-14/15):

  • Prior leadership of data science teams or technical leads on analytics modernization programs
  • Experience with Agile/SAFe delivery frameworks in a federal environment
  • PMP, ITIL, or related certifications a plus
