Position Type: Full-Time/W2-Employee

WHO ARE WE:
Teachers On Demand ® is an educational staffing and recruiting firm that partners with schools, districts, and educational organizations nationwide to identify and hire exceptional teachers, instructors, paraprofessionals, administrators, and others who share our vision of creating a brighter future for students. We are proud to serve a growing number of communities where we support local schools and parents by connecting them with dedicated and qualified educators.
Our mission is to provide flexible schedules, professional development, and extensive training for our staff, while offering customized solutions and hands-on management for our partnering schools.
About This Role
Open Doors. Build Bridges. Grow Global Scholars.
We are seeking a passionate, mission-aligned K-5 Spanish Teacher to join our North Carolina partner school community. This role is ideal for educators who believe early language instruction is more than vocabulary — it is a powerful tool for cultural understanding, identity development, and expanded opportunity for every elementary scholar.
As a K-5 Spanish Teacher, you will design and lead engaging, standards-aligned world language instruction that builds elementary scholar communication skills across listening, speaking, and beginning reading and writing. You’ll create an immersive, structured, and joyful environment where K-5 scholars develop confidence, cultural awareness, and lifelong language skills. When not in session with scholars, you will support school-wide operations to keep campus running smoothly.
If you are passionate about equity, inclusion, and helping scholars reach their full potential through strong instruction and intentional support, we invite you to apply.
What You’ll Do
You’ll lead language instruction that builds confidence, communication, and cultural understanding.
As a K-5 Spanish Language Teacher, you will:
- Plan and deliver standards-aligned K-5 world language instruction grounded in the ACTFL World-Readiness Standards and the North Carolina World Language Essential Standards
- Develop scholar proficiency across the three modes of communication: interpersonal, interpretive, and presentational
- Use comprehensible input, target-language immersion, and engaging instructional strategies (TPRS, total physical response, authentic resources, etc.) appropriate to scholar level
- Build cultural literacy through authentic texts, music, traditions, and global perspectives
- Assess scholar growth using performance-based assessments aligned to ACTFL proficiency benchmarks
- Differentiate instruction to support scholars with diverse abilities, including those with IEPs and 504 plans, and heritage learners where applicable
- Build strong relationships with scholars, families, and staff
- Support school-wide culture, arrival/dismissal duties, transitions, and family engagement events
- Participate in coaching cycles, professional development, and grade-level planning
- Lead or support cultural celebrations, language clubs, or family engagement events that build community
- Support school-wide operations during non-instructional blocks — including arrival and dismissal duties, lunch and recess coverage, hallway transitions, family engagement events, and other operational needs as assigned
Who We’re Looking For
We’re looking for a passionate, creative, and mission-aligned educator who brings their content area to life for every scholar.
You’ll thrive in this role if you:
- Believe in the potential of every scholar and are committed to equity
- Bring energy, creativity, and joy to your classroom every day
- Are reliable, organized, and able to manage multiple priorities
- Communicate clearly and build positive relationships with scholars, families, and adults
- Are coachable, reflective, and open to feedback
- Thrive in a fast-paced, mission-driven environment
Required Qualifications
Your background and credentials meet North Carolina's requirements to lead a language program.
- Bachelor’s degree in the target language of the role, World Languages, Linguistics, Education, or a related field from an accredited college or university
- Valid North Carolina Department of Public Instruction (NCDPI) teaching license in the target world language (K–12) — Initial Professional License (IPL), Continuing Professional License (CPL), or Residency License — OR eligibility to obtain through an approved NC alternative licensure pathway
- Passing score on the NCSBE-approved Pearson content licensure exam for the target world language (per NCDPI policy LICN-003), or willingness to attempt within the first year and pass by the third year of an IPL. Note: for languages without a Pearson exam, NCDPI may accept alternative content verification such as ACTFL proficiency assessments.
- Demonstrated proficiency in the target language at the Advanced-Low level or higher on the ACTFL OPI — or at the Intermediate-High level for non-Roman-alphabet languages (preferred for instructional effectiveness, even where not state-required)
- Ability to pass a North Carolina criminal history background check pursuant to N.C.G.S. §§ 115C-218.90 and 115C-332
- Documentation of a negative TB skin test (or chest X-ray) as required by the school's health policies
- Commitment to the school's mission, values, and high expectations for all scholars
Preferred Qualifications
Experience or training that supports your readiness for a specialist role is a plus.
- Prior teaching experience in an elementary (K-5) school setting
- Native or near-native fluency in the target language of the role
- Experience teaching in an immersion, dual-language, or world language program
- Training in TPRS, comprehensible input, or other proficiency-based methodologies
- Lived, studied, or worked in a country or community where the target language is spoken
- National Board Certification in World Languages Other Than English
Pay:
