Electrical / Robotics Engineer
Location: Central Florida (On-site) (lake Mary)
About the Role
Laser Photonics is seeking a highly motivated Electrical / Robotics Engineer to join our engineering team in Central Florida. This is an exciting opportunity to work on cutting-edge counter-UAS (anti-drone) technologies, developing advanced robotic and motion control systems that support next-generation defense and security solutions.
This role is ideal for an engineer who enjoys solving complex technical challenges, working with multidisciplinary teams, and contributing to innovative products from concept through deployment.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and test robotic and electromechanical systems for counter-drone applications.
- Develop and maintain software in C++ for real-time control and system integration.
- Implement and optimize motion control algorithms for precision positioning and autonomous operation.
- Integrate motors, sensors, actuators, and embedded hardware into complete robotic systems.
- Troubleshoot hardware and software issues during development and testing.
- Collaborate with electrical, mechanical, and software engineers to deliver integrated solutions.
- Support prototype builds, system validation, and field testing.
- Document designs, test procedures, and engineering changes.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Robotics Engineering, Mechatronics, Computer Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
- Strong proficiency in C++ programming.
- Experience with motion control systems, servo motors, motor drives, and feedback control.
- Hands-on experience designing or integrating robotic or automated systems.
- Strong understanding of electrical systems, sensors, actuators, and control hardware.
- Excellent troubleshooting and analytical problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work on-site in Central Florida.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with autonomous systems or unmanned systems (UAS/UGV).
- Familiarity with embedded systems and real-time software development.
- Experience with robotics frameworks such as ROS.
- Knowledge of machine vision, sensor fusion, or AI-based robotics.
- Experience working in defense, aerospace, or advanced technology environments.
- Familiarity with communication protocols such as CAN, Ethernet/IP, Modbus, SPI, or UART.
