Role: Mainframe Automation Engineer

Location: Remote (EST/CST based candidates only)

Type of Employment: Contract-to-Hire

Contract Duration: 06 Months on W2 with No benefits

Job Description:

We are looking for a Senior Mainframe Automation Engineer with expertise in Broadcom OPS/MVS, IBM System Automation (SA z/OS), and GDPS to drive automation, resiliency, and modernization initiatives across enterprise z/OS environments.

Required Skills:

• 8+ years of Mainframe Systems Programming/Automation experience
• Strong expertise with Broadcom OPS/MVS and IBM System Automation (SA z/OS)
• Hands-on experience with GDPS, Disaster Recovery, and recovery automation
• Deep knowledge of z/OS, NetView, JES2/JES3, SYSLOG, WTORs, IPL processes, and system startup/shutdown automation
• Advanced REXX scripting and automation development
• Experience troubleshooting complex production automation and system issues
• Strong documentation, operational support, and stakeholder communication skills

Responsibilities:

• Design, implement, and optimize enterprise Mainframe automation solutions
• Automate IPL, startup/shutdown, and operational workflows
• Enhance Disaster Recovery and GDPS automation capabilities
• Collaborate with z/OS, Middleware, Application, and Infrastructure teams
• Develop automation standards, runbooks, and best practices
• Lead incident resolution, modernization efforts, and knowledge-sharing initiatives

Nice to Have: Ansible for Mainframe, OPS/MVS REST API integrations, Watchtower/Observability tools, Agile experience.
