Hourly Pay Rate: Negotiable dependent on experience

Security Clearance / Requirements: Must hold NV1 clearance at time of application

Working Arrangements: Onsite with flexibility subject to operational requirements

A Federal Government department is seeking an experienced Senior Unified Communications Engineer to join its Telecommunications and Data Centre Support team within a large ICT infrastructure environment.

You will work as part of a mixed APS and contractor team delivering and supporting enterprise-grade telecommunications, voice, video, and collaboration platforms across a complex and highly secure environment. The role supports both operational services and project delivery, contributing to the design, implementation, and ongoing optimisation of Unified Communications (UC) capabilities.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Identify and document business, functional, and technical requirements for UC hardware, systems, workflows, and operating environments

• Act as the subject matter expert for the design and implementation of Unified Communications solutions, ensuring scalability, security, and efficiency

• Develop and maintain UC roadmaps in collaboration with architecture, design, and cybersecurity stakeholders

• Support the design and deployment of communication, collaboration, and networking systems

• Maintain and support UC platforms including telephony, collaboration tools, messaging systems, softphones, mobile devices, PBX, and voice/video conferencing environments

• Develop and maintain policies, procedures, and training materials for system administration and end user use

• Research emerging technologies, standards, and products to inform procurement and continuous improvement

• Work closely with cross functional teams to ensure architectural consistency and alignment across projects

• Provide technical support for UC system upgrades, troubleshooting complex infrastructure and software issues

• Contribute to operational strategies, best practices, and service improvements to enhance performance and reliability

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

Essential:

• Minimum 10 years' experience designing, deploying, and managing Unified Communications systems

• Strong stakeholder engagement and client service capabilities

• Demonstrated ability to produce detailed technical designs and implementation documentation

• Highly developed diagnostic and problem solving skills

• Proven ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary technical teams

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Desirable:

• Broad understanding of whole-of-government ICT direction and emerging technologies

• Hands on experience with day to day UC operations including voice, video, and VoIP environments

• Experience contributing to ICT security accreditation processes

• Strong understanding of ASD Essential Eight

• Familiarity with current and emerging networking and collaboration technologies

ELIGIBILITY

• Australian citizenship is required

• Must hold minimum NV1 clearance at time of application
