Role Overview
The Construction Manager (CM) serves as the field leader responsible for the safe and successful execution of substation and transmission construction projects. This position acts as the primary liaison between field activities and the General Manager, ensuring adherence to engineering design, contract requirements, and safety standards. The role involves approximately 20% office responsibilities and 80% field oversight.

Education: An Associate or Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Power Generation, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
Experience: 11 to 15 years of experience in power plant commissioning, working with EPC Contractors, engineering firms, and equipment suppliers. Experience in substation or industrial construction is required.

Role Overview
The Construction Manager (CM) serves as the field leader responsible for the safe and successful execution of substation and transmission construction projects. This position acts as the primary liaison between field activities and the General Manager, ensuring adherence to engineering design, contract requirements, and safety standards. The role involves approximately 20% office responsibilities and 80% field oversight.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate and manage construction work performed by contractors and vendors, assessing productivity, schedule compliance, work quality, and safety performance.
- Manage walk downs of planned work, validate acceptance of completed work to design requirements, and approve contractor payment requests.
- Provide scope control, budget oversight, and performance reporting to ensure Construction Supervisors are effectively implementing their assignments.
- Act as a bridge between field operations and leadership, addressing logistical challenges and resolving conflicts to keep construction activities on track.
- Oversee large-scale commissioning efforts, including project scope and risk management, and develop commissioning strategies to optimize plant performance.
- Lead and coach Construction Supervisors and supplemental workforce, communicating goals and validating performance.
- Ensure adherence to all safety and environmental regulations, including reviewing contractor safety plans and conducting daily safety meetings.
- Manage project materials, including comparing drawings with bills of materials, confirming delivery, and tracking any shortages or damages.
- Maintain strong relationships with contractors and communicate effectively with the Project Manager.
Required Qualifications

Experience: 11 to 15 years of experience in power plant commissioning, working with EPC Contractors, engineering firms, and equipment suppliers. Experience in substation or industrial construction is required.
Skills:
- Strong understanding of engineering principles related to power plant commissioning and the ability to read and interpret construction drawings.
- Proficiency with computer applications, including Microsoft Word.
- Knowledge of safety and environmental requirements in a construction setting.
- Strong communication and leadership skills.
- Driving will be required for this position. A valid, non-restricted driver's license must be maintained.
