Job Description
Currently seeking an experienced Senior Data Architect to support a Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) program. In this role, you will lead the design, development, and implementation of enterprise data architecture solutions that support mission-critical applications and analytics. You will work closely with technical teams and stakeholders to develop scalable, secure, and high-performing data solutions in a cloud-based environment.
The ideal candidate has extensive experience with enterprise data modeling, ETL architecture, cloud-based database technologies, and modern data warehouse solutions.
Essential Functions:
- Design and maintain enterprise data architecture strategies that support business and technical objectives.
- Develop logical and physical data models using ER/Studio Enterprise.
- Design and implement scalable data warehouse and data lake solutions.
- Architect and support ETL processes to efficiently integrate data from multiple sources.
- Develop solutions for structured, semi-structured, and unstructured data.
- Establish data governance, master data management, and data quality best practices.
- Evaluate data architecture tools, technologies, and approaches, providing recommendations based on technical and business requirements.
- Collaborate with software developers, business analysts, and stakeholders to deliver secure, scalable data solutions.
- Support Agile software development activities throughout the system development lifecycle (SDLC).
- Document architecture decisions, standards, and technical designs.
Required Experience:
- 3+ years of hands-on experience with ER/Studio Enterprise (Data Modeling & Architecture Tools).
- Experience with ER/Studio Enterprise is required and cannot be substituted with other data modeling tools.
- 3+ years of experience designing and implementing enterprise data architectures.
- 3+ years of experience with AWS, Oracle, and Amazon Relational Database Service (RDS).
- 3+ years of experience designing and developing ETL solutions.
- Experience designing enterprise data warehouses and/or data lakes.
- Experience with data modeling and database design.
- Experience working with structured, semi-structured, and unstructured data.
- Experience with Databricks.
- Experience with data governance, master data management, and data quality practices.
- Experience with ETL and data analytics tools.
- Working knowledge of Agile methodologies and the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC).
- Ability to obtain and maintain a VA Public Trust clearance.
Desired Experience:
- Experience with Amazon Redshift.
- Experience developing dashboards or reporting solutions using Tableau.
- Experience supporting federal government or healthcare programs.
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
