Solicitor - Trading Standards

We are currently working in partnership with a Local Authority based in Oxfordshire , who are recruiting for a Solicitor to support their Trading Standards team on an initial 3-month locum contract .

They are looking for someone on a full-time basis, and the rate of pay is negotiable between £50 - £60 p/hour via an Umbrella company.

The ideal candidate will have significant experience in crime and regulatory work to conduct trading standards work within local government.

Duties will include (but are not limited to):

• Drafting and reviewing documents and agreements to ensure that policy is formulated
• Advising and conducting advocacy on a wide range of criminal and regulatory matters from the outset of proceedings to conclusion including trading standards, health and food safety, fraud, planning, highways, school attendance, environmental, blue badge misuse
• Advising and litigating straightforward and complex civil litigation cases to include judicial review, contractual disputes, commercial property disputes, debt recovery, insolvency and bankruptcy
• Providing legal and procedural advice to Members and training to Members and client Services

Experience required:

• Experience required in Local Government
• Highly confident advocating in court

Working hours:

• 37 hours per week
• Monday – Friday, 9am-5pm
