Firmware Validation Engineer | Foster City, CA | Hybrid

This employer is a leading innovator in autonomous mobility, seeking a skilled Firmware Validation Engineer to join their Chassis Actuator Engineering Department. The role focuses on supporting critical Brake & Steering systems within a dynamic and forward-thinking organization at the forefront of automotive technology.

The Role

  • Develop and maintain technical specifications for brake and steering sub-systems in collaboration with suppliers and internal teams.
  • Create and enhance diagnostic scripts and tools to optimize validation processes.
  • Collaborate with suppliers to adapt test plans, validate firmware, and perform regression testing.
  • Lead the resolution of supplier firmware defects and conduct impact assessments.
  • Engage with cross-disciplinary teams including AI, Mechatronics, Computer Vision, and Robotics.

What You'll Need

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in engineering or a related field with 6+ years of experience in automotive or a similar industry.
  • Proven experience debugging complex hardware, software, and firmware issues.
  • In-depth knowledge of automotive actuator controls and validation methodologies.
  • Experience implementing various test methodologies and developing HIL test assets.
  • Understanding of automotive program development, release processes, and long-term scheduling.
