Job Description

Summary

This is a high-priority initiative to build a WhatsApp-style, in-app conversational platform that enables persistent, real-time communication between customers and dedicated relationship managers.

This is a greenfield (0-to-1) project with high visibility, focused on creating a scalable, secure, and reliable messaging platform while reducing dependency on third-party communication tools.

Responsibilities

  • Design and build a persistent, threaded, in-app messaging platform supporting one-to-one conversations.
  • Architect scalable real-time messaging infrastructure, including message delivery, read receipts, presence, notifications, and attachments.
  • Integrate with existing contact center platforms (Amazon Connect), CRM systems, and centralized knowledge repositories.
  • Collaborate closely with Product, Design, and Engineering teams to deliver a premium customer experience.
  • Design resilient systems using caching, failover, circuit breakers, and other high-availability patterns.
  • Partner with Security and Compliance teams to ensure secure handling of sensitive customer communications.
  • Participate in architectural decisions related to build-vs-buy strategies and platform modernization.

Required Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience building production backend and/or full-stack applications.
  • Strong experience building real-time messaging, chat, or notification platforms.
  • Experience with event-driven architectures, WebSockets, or similar real-time communication technologies.
  • Experience building scalable distributed systems with high availability and low latency.
  • Experience with AWS cloud services.
  • Experience with Amazon Connect, Salesforce, or similar CRM/contact center platforms is a plus.
  • Experience working in regulated environments such as fintech, banking, or financial services is preferred.
  • Proven ability to independently deliver 0-to-1 products and features.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills.

Nice to Have

  • Experience building messaging platforms or chat applications.
  • Experience with WhatsApp Business API or similar messaging technologies.
  • Experience supporting wealth management, private banking, or premium customer service platforms.
