Data Warehouse Analyst / Report Builder (Power BI & Snowflake)

Job Overview

We are seeking an experienced Data Warehouse Analyst / Report Builder to join our team on-site in Tallahassee, FL supporting the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) . In this role, you will develop and optimize Power BI semantic models, dashboards, and analytical reports integrated directly with Snowflake . You will write and tune complex SQL queries, design advanced DAX calculations, build dimensional models, and ensure high-performance reporting for key stakeholders .

Key Responsibilities

• Power BI & Semantic Modeling: Design, build, and optimize Power BI dataflows and semantic models using star schema and dimensional modeling practices .

• DAX & Report Development: Write advanced DAX measures and construct user-friendly, high-performance dashboards and reports .

• Snowflake & SQL Optimization: Write and tune complex SQL queries (CTEs, window functions, analytical queries) to prepare Snowflake datasets for Power BI consumption .

• Data Engineering Collaboration: Partner with data engineers to ensure fact and dimension tables are properly structured, sized, and modeled .

• Integration: Connect Power BI with Snowflake using optimal connection modes, ensuring query folding, data reliability, and performance .

• Documentation & Governance: Maintain metadata, document data lineage, and construct clear report specifications to support enterprise data governance .

Required Qualifications & Skills

• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field (or equivalent hands-on work experience) .

• Overall BI Experience: Minimum 5+ years of IT experience in business intelligence tools and data warehousing .

• Power BI Expertise: 3–5 years of hands-on experience building enterprise-level dashboards, paginated reports (Power BI Report Builder), DAX calculations, and semantic models .

• Advanced SQL: Proven proficiency writing and optimizing complex SQL queries (CTEs, window functions, analytical queries) .

• Data Modeling: Deep expertise in dimensional modeling, star schema design, and fact/dimension structures .

• Snowflake Environment: Experience with Snowflake performance tuning, clustering keys, compute optimization, warehouse sizing, and Role-Based Access Control (RBAC) .

• Location Requirements: Must reside in or be willing to relocate to Tallahassee, FL and report to the office 5 days a week (In-person interview required) .
