Job Description

Lead Software Engineer - Java/JEE, AWS - 6 months, hybrid/Manchester, to £750 p/d inside IR35

A Lead Software Engineer is required to act as the technical SME within a cross-functional Agile delivery team working on a large, high-profile project. You will have extensive senior/lead Java design, analysis, development experience, gained within large, complex enterprise environments with excellent knowledge of Java/J2EE/JEE, Spring Boot, microservices, AWS, API architecture, CI/CD, Gitlab pipelines & automation and Agile. You will have excellent stakeholder management, communication skills with the ability to coach/mentor junior members of the team. The role will involve liaising with the business, stakeholders, 3rd parties, acting as the subject matter expert for Java, Spring Boot and microservices, providing technical direction, coaching and support to senior/junior engineers, designing robust, scalable and secure distributed systems, leading API design, integration patterns and best practices, improving CI/CD pipelines and engineering standards using GitLab, working closely with architecture, product and delivery leads, ensuring solutions align with AWS best practices. The role will involve 2 days per week on site.
