Job Title: KYB/KYC Anlayst (L1 Transaction Monitoring Analyst)
Location: Texas
Job Summary
The L1 Transaction Monitoring Analyst is responsible for the first line of review in the transaction monitoring lifecycle. This role focuses on high-volume alert triage using established procedures and playbooks to identify and clear risk-irrelevant alerts while escalating potentially suspicious activity for further investigation.
Key Responsibilities
  • Review transaction monitoring alerts generated by monitoring systems in accordance with established procedures and playbooks.
  • Perform initial reviews of:
    • Customer KYC profiles and risk ratings
    • Transaction history and behavioral patterns
    • Relevant customer and account information
  • Conduct initial risk categorization of alerts, including risk-irrelevant and potentially suspicious activity.
  • Clear alerts that meet predefined criteria with appropriate documentation and rationale.
  • Escalate unusual, complex, or higher-risk alerts to Level 2 analysts for deeper investigation.
  • Accurately document review steps, observations, and decisions within the case management system.
  • Ensure all reviews are completed in accordance with internal policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
  • Maintain high standards of quality, accuracy, completeness, and consistency in case documentation.
  • Collaborate with L2 Analysts and Team Leads on escalated alerts and investigations.
  • Provide concise summaries and supporting evidence when escalating cases.
  • Assist with responses to inquiries from Compliance, Quality Assurance, and Audit teams regarding L1 reviews.
  • Meet established performance metrics, including:
    • Average Handling Time (AHT)
    • Throughput (alerts processed per day)
    • Quality scores for review accuracy and completeness
  • Identify recurring issues and recommend improvements to processes, procedures, and playbooks.
  • Participate in ongoing training related to AML typologies, red flags, regulatory changes, and system enhancements.
Required Skills
  • Strong analytical and critical-thinking abilities with exceptional attention to detail.
  • Ability to follow structured procedures and predefined workflows.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a high-volume, time-sensitive environment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Ability to work with case management and transaction monitoring tools.
  • High level of integrity, discretion, and professional ethics.
Preferred Skills
  • Basic understanding of AML/CFT concepts and transaction monitoring principles.
  • Familiarity with KYC processes, customer due diligence, and banking or financial products.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor s degree in Finance, Business, Economics, Law, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • 2+ years of experience in AML, transaction monitoring, financial crime compliance, or related operational roles.
  • Candidates with relevant academic backgrounds may also be considered.
  • Knowledge of KYC, customer due diligence, and financial services operations is an advantage.
