Job Title: Dentist (DDS/DMD)
Location: Lafayette, IN (Onsite)

Job Description

We are seeking a dentist to provide comprehensive dental care in a long-term care setting. This role involves treating adult and geriatric patients, conducting oral health assessments, performing restorative procedures, and collaborating with healthcare staff to ensure high-quality patient care. The position requires 8 hours per week, which can be worked as one full day or two partial days.

Responsibilities

  • Perform comprehensive oral examinations and evaluate patient dental health.
  • Interpret portable dental radiographs.
  • Develop individualized oral care plans.
  • Perform cleanings, fluoride treatments, fillings, crowns, extractions, denture repairs, and relines.
  • Diagnose and treat periodontal disease and other age-related oral health conditions.
  • Prescribe medications such as antibiotics and analgesics when appropriate.
  • Coordinate patient care with physicians and nursing staff.
  • Educate caregivers on proper daily oral hygiene techniques for elderly patients.
  • Maintain accurate clinical documentation in the Electronic Medical Record (EMR).
  • Follow all infection prevention and regulatory compliance standards.

Required Qualifications

  • Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) or Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD) from an accredited institution.
  • Current unrestricted Indiana Dental License.
  • Current CPR certification.
  • Minimum 2+ years of experience in general dentistry, including:
    • Oral examinations
    • Cleanings
    • Fillings
    • Crowns
    • Extractions
    • Dentures
  • Minimum 2+ years of experience treating geriatric patients and age-related oral health conditions.
  • Minimum 2+ years of experience following CDC and OSHA infection control guidelines.
  • Working knowledge of OSHA, HIPAA, CMS, and applicable healthcare regulations.
  • Experience using Electronic Medical Records (EMR).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with dental implants and prosthodontics.
  • Experience providing care in long-term care, military, VA, or federally qualified health center (FQHC) environments.
  • Experience treating patients with cognitive or physical disabilities.
  • Experience with sedation dentistry.
