Role Overview
We are seeking an MDVT Engineer to join a mechanical design validation testing team. The engineer will work under the direction of a senior MDVT engineer and support mechanical and environmental validation testing of hardware and networking equipment.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform mechanical and environmental validation testing, including shock, vibration, drop, and thermal testing.
- Set up and maintain test beds for large networking equipment.
- Support test engineering development, troubleshooting, and failure-analysis activities.
- Execute validation tests according to defined procedures and specifications.
- Collect, analyze, and document test results.
- Prepare clear and concise test reports.
- Build or modify test setups using hand and power tools.
- Work with engineering teams to identify failures and drive issues toward resolution.
- Ability to lift equipment weighing approximately 25 lbs.
Required Skills
- Knowledge of mechanical and environmental stress-testing methods, including:
- Mechanical shock and vibration
- Drop testing
- Temperature and humidity testing
- Altitude testing
- Understanding of fundamental hardware components and systems, including PCBs, heatsinks, mounting brackets, and optical modules.
- Understanding of mechanical design principles.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and ability to use hand and power tools.
- Comfortable working in a Unix/Linux environment.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and documentation skills.
Nice to Have
- Knowledge of IEC, ETSI, and MIL-STD standards.
- Hands-on experience with test equipment such as environmental chambers and vibration shakers.
- Understanding of test infrastructure architecture and design.
- Basic knowledge of router/switch configuration, TCP/IP, and L2/L3 networking.
- Experience with failure analysis and troubleshooting in a lab environment.
- Experience with test planning, validation, identifying failures, and working with cross-functional teams to resolve issues.
- Scripting knowledge or experience with test automation.
- Experience working in a fast-paced engineering or hardware-validation environment.
