Application Support Engineer (Market Risk/ Capital Markets)

Software Guidance & Assistance, Inc., (SGA), is searching for a Application Support Engineer (Market Risk/ Capital Markets) for a contract position with one of our premier financial services clients in Cincinnati, OH
Hybrid schedule 4x weekly onsite

We are seeking a Platform Support Engineer to support and maintain critical production platforms that power market risk and capital markets operations. This role is responsible for ensuring the stability, performance, and reliability of batch-oriented, compute-intensive systems while working closely with platform engineering, development, and business teams to resolve issues and improve operational efficiency.
The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience in platform engineering and production support environments, strong Python skills, and a proactive approach to troubleshooting complex systems. Experience supporting risk analytics platforms or capital markets applications is highly desirable.

Responsibilities:

• Provide production support for business-critical platforms and applications.
• Monitor, troubleshoot, and resolve issues impacting batch-oriented and compute-intensive processing environments.
• Support platform engineering initiatives focused on reliability, scalability, performance, and automation.
• Investigate system failures, performance bottlenecks, and processing exceptions to ensure timely resolution.
• Develop and maintain Python scripts and automation tools to improve platform operations and support processes.
• Collaborate with development, infrastructure, and business stakeholders to identify root causes and implement long-term solutions.
• Participate in incident management, problem management, and change management activities.
• Maintain operational documentation, runbooks, and support procedures.
• Support platform upgrades, releases, and production deployments.
• Continuously identify opportunities to improve monitoring, alerting, and operational efficiency.

Required Skills:

• 3+ years of experience in Platform Engineering, Production Support, Systems Engineering, or a related technical support role.
• Experience supporting batch-oriented, compute-intensive platforms in a production environment.
• Strong background in Platform Engineering and Platform Support.
• Proficiency in Python scripting and automation.
• Experience troubleshooting complex technical issues across applications, infrastructure, and platform components.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication and collaboration abilities.

Preferred Skills:

• Experience supporting Capital Markets products and applications.
• Knowledge of Market Risk concepts, methodologies, and reporting processes.
• Prior experience with Adaptiv, market risk platforms, or risk analytics systems.
• Familiarity with financial services environments and risk management technologies.
• Experience working with large-scale distributed or high-performance computing environments.
• Understanding of production monitoring, incident management, and operational best practices.
