Why This Role Stands Out
This hybrid role offers a fantastic opportunity to contribute to cutting-edge wireless technologies with a globally leading company, perfect for an experienced RF Hardware Engineer ready to shape system performance. You'll thrive here if you enjoy cross-functional collaboration, in-depth analysis, and driving innovative solutions that directly impact user experience.
Quick Overview
Job Description
A globally leading consumer device company based in Cupertino, CA is seeking RF Hardware Engineer to join their team. This individual will work on overall system performance of multi-radio coexistence for various wireless technologies (e.g., Cellular, Wi-Fi, BT, GPS, UWB, NFC).
Job Responsibilities:
- Partner cross-functionally to assess multi-radio coexistence performance and its impact on the end-user experience across platforms.
- Define product-level coexistence performance specifications, use cases, test methodologies, and key performance metrics.
- Bring up devices under test and develop bench setups, mockups, experiments, and test procedures for coexistence validation.
- Define and execute validation and characterization test plans, track progress, analyze results, and communicate data-driven insights to cross-functional partners and leadership.
- Collect and analyze performance data and wireless logs across RF parameters to characterize coexistence performance and derive hardware specifications.
- Collaborate with analytics and field teams to understand usage patterns, assess the prevalence of coexistence issues, and demonstrate end-user impact through field-log analysis and controlled experiments.
- Partner with cross-functional teams on circuit- and system-level simulations to identify risk areas and determine the root cause of coexistence issues.
- Monitor hardware performance throughout development builds and recommend hardware, software, or process changes while considering design constraints and implementation trade-offs.
- Collaborate with wireless software teams to design and implement mitigation policies based on bench, field, and factory hardware data.
- Lead cross-functional efforts to establish software mitigation strategies for current and future technology platforms.
Minimum Qualifications:
• Bachelor''s degree in electrical engineering with 10+ years relevant work experience.
• Experience with at least one radio of Cellular, GPS, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, Thread, NFC, and UWB.
• Knowledge of RF component characteristics and experience using lab equipment including spectrum analyzer, network analyzer, signal generator, oscilloscopes, call box.
• Knowledge of wireless architectures including front-end, antenna sharing, link budget lineup.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Master''s degree in electrical engineering with 10+ years relevant work experience.
• Experience debugging and performing RF measurements at the conducted & radiated level.
• Experience on co-existence performance benchmark, impact analysis, software mitigation scheme, MAC/PHY and throughput measurement and debug.
• Experience working with chipset teams to define RF/wireless system-level requirements and influence chipset architecture or design decisions.
• Familiarity with wireless protocol stack at the RF, PHY & MAC layers.
