This position is responsible for the performing and maintaining the daily activities associated with the Safe operation of fiber cutting / packaging lines in accordance to established standard work procedures. Cutting operator is responsible for completing required documentation and maintaining quality by inspecting, grading, and packing of all products produced on their assigned lines in accordance with product quality specifications and packaging specifications. Cutting operator will be required to perform authorized minor equipment adjustments on all production line equipment in order meet safety, quality, and production standards with limited assistance from others.
- Responsible for performing job duties in a safe and conscientious manner, following all JSA’s procedures, and policies established for the plant.
- Communicate with off going Cutting Line Operator
- Review Process Specification for processing accuracy
- Operate Cutting equipment as directed, making minor adjustments as needed.
- Complete shift documentation (Paperwork / Computer Input) for Safety, Quality and Productivity as directed.
- Perform quality checks as directed
- Enter data into sap to make pallet ticket, only print tickets as needed, do not print tickets ahead of time, if equipment fails someone will have to spend time to reverse the tickets.
- Place tickets on center of each side of the pallets, should always be uniform placement.
- Program printers and change ribbon if needed, remember if you can’t read the print neither will the customer.
- Change paper as needed, us caution with changing out paper keep hands away from pinch points and always lock the paper roll down each time. Change PVOH rolls as needed, using caution as well.
- Enters notifications for all Safety issues, downtime, and maintenance issues as needed.
- Ability to perform in a cross-functional capacity by successfully training and qualifying on all packaging lines to support operational flexibility and production requirements.
- Perform TPM activities as required.
- Perform product changes as needed, always follow product change procedure, no exceptions.
- Understanding of plant processes; how activity on the production floor affects our financial performance
- Actively participate on quality improvement projects / teams.
- Maintains safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.
- Able to perform other Job duties assigned by Leader
- Monitor inventory levels of all materials being consumed on the production line and request replenishment of supplies in a timely manner as to not disrupt production flow. Remember it is your responsibility to always check to ensure you are getting the correct supplies.
- Ability to successfully complete and maintain all required OSHA training and adhere to established safety standards and regulatory requirements.
- Cutting Operator has full authority and responsibility to shut down any piece of equipment that is deemed unsafe, failure to do so is a violation of plant safety rules. YOUR SAFETY AND THE SAFETY OF OTHERS ALWAYS COMES FIRST!
- High School Graduate or GED is required
- Working knowledge of SAP preferred
- Proficiency in utilizing HMI (Human-Machine Interface) computer system.
- Ability to communicate well with others and work effectively withing a team environment.
