Financial Controller

Salary: Up to £55,000
Contract: Permanent
Hours: Full-time, 37.5 hours per week
Location: Hybrid / London

A growing social-impact charity is seeking an experienced Financial Controller to strengthen financial management, reporting, controls and business partnering across the organisation.

Reporting to a senior operational leader and managing the Finance Team, you will work closely with the Executive Team, budget holders and colleagues across the organisation. You will play a key role in improving financial insight, strengthening controls and helping non-finance colleagues make confident, well-informed decisions.

The role

As Financial Controller, you will lead the organisation's financial management and control environment while supporting longer-term planning and sustainability.

You will:

Lead budgeting, forecasting and multi-year financial planning

Provide high-quality management information, analysis and commentary to senior leaders and Trustees

Partner with budget holders, providing financial insight and support.

Oversee month-end processes, reconciliations, payroll controls and policies

Lead preparation for the annual audit and statutory accounts

Maintain strong oversight of restricted income and funder reporting

Support fundraising and income-generation teams with financial modelling and funding applications

Lead cash-flow forecasting, treasury management and investment oversight

Improve finance systems, reporting tools and processes, including identifying opportunities for automation

Help improve financial understanding and confidence across the organisation

About you

You will ideally be a qualified accountant, ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent, and will offer:

Strong finance experience gained within a charity, not-for-profit or similarly complex environment

Excellent financial control, management accounting and reporting experience

Practical knowledge of Charities SORP and FRS102

The ability to translate complex financial information into clear, practical advice

Confidence working with senior leaders, Trustees and non-finance stakeholders

Experience improving financial systems, processes and controls

The ability to combine attention to detail with a wider organisational perspective
