Shift Pattern: 4 days on / 4 days off | 12-hour shifts
Take the Lead. Keep Production Moving.
We are looking for a hands-on Shift Engineer to take ownership of engineering operations across a busy industrial laundry facility. Working on a 4-on, 4-off shift pattern, youll be the engineering lead on duty, keeping critical machinery running safely, efficiently and reliably.
This is an ideal opportunity for a skilled multi-skilled engineer who enjoys fault-finding, solving problems and taking ownership in a fast-paced production environment.
What Youll Be Doing
Take full ownership of engineering activity throughout your shift.
Respond quickly to breakdowns and minimise production downtime.
Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, pneumatic and control system faults.
Maintain and repair industrial equipment including washers, dryers, feeders, ironers, folders, conveyors and automated handling systems.
Complete planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and ensure equipment remains safe and operational.
Investigate recurring faults and identify permanent solutions to improve reliability.
Prioritise engineering issues based on safety, production requirements and operational impact.
Coordinate engineers, contractors and specialist support when required.
Maintain accurate breakdown, repair, PPM and spare-parts records using a CMMS/PPM system.
Provide clear and detailed written and verbal shift handovers.
Work closely with Production and Operations to maximise equipment availability and throughput.
Support continuous improvement, equipment installations, commissioning and engineering projects.
Maintain high standards of health, safety, housekeeping and workshop organisation.
What We are Looking For
Time-served Engineer or equivalent practical engineering experience.
Strong multi-skilled fault-finding ability across mechanical and electrical systems.
Experience in manufacturing, processing, industrial or other fast-paced operational environments.
Confident working independently and making decisions with minimal supervision.
Strong problem-solving skills and a genuine ownership mindset.
Excellent communication skills, particularly when providing technical handovers.
Ability to prioritise multiple breakdowns and maintenance requirements safely and effectively.
A proactive approach to preventative maintenance and continuous improvement.
Desirable
HNC/HND or equivalent qualification in Mechanical, Electrical or Engineering.
18th Edition, IOSH, NEBOSH, PUWER or similar certification.
Experience with industrial laundry equipment or automated production machinery.
