System Reporting Analyst - FTC £45K

(SQL/Tableau)

Birmingham - 2 days per week

Leading global organisation is seeking a System Reporting Analyst to join its finance systems function on a 12-month fixed-term basis.

This role is ideal for someone with strong SQL and SSRS skills who enjoys working with data, producing meaningful management reports and helping business users resolve reporting issues. You will play an important role in maintaining the organisation's reporting capabilities, ensuring data is accurate, reliable and accessible to stakeholders across the business.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop, maintain and optimise SQL queries to support regular and ad-hoc reporting requirements.
• Create and maintain SSRS reports to deliver accurate and timely management information.
• Build and enhance Tableau dashboards and reporting solutions.
• Extract, analyse and validate data across multiple finance systems.
• Perform data quality checks, investigate discrepancies and ensure reporting accuracy.
• Maintain the existing reporting catalogue and support ongoing reporting requirements.
• Investigate and resolve reporting-related support tickets, working closely with the wider systems team.
• Engage with stakeholders across the business to understand reporting needs and translate requirements into practical solutions.
• Communicate findings and technical information clearly to non-technical colleagues.

Essential Skills & Experience

• Strong SQL/T-SQL skills, including the ability to write, maintain and optimise queries.
• Hands-on experience developing and maintaining SSRS reports.
• Experience using Tableau, ideally including dashboard development.
• Good Excel skills and confidence working with large datasets.
• A strong understanding of data quality, validation and reconciliation.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Confident communication skills, with experience supporting non-technical users.

Desirable Experience

• Experience working with SQL Server and SSMS.
• Understanding of data warehousing concepts.
• Previous experience within a finance, professional services or legal environment.

The Ideal Candidate

You will be a hands-on reporting specialist who can quickly get up to speed in an established systems environment. You'll combine strong technical reporting skills with a proactive approach to problem-solving and the confidence to work directly with stakeholders to resolve issues and deliver reliable business insight.

SQL/T-SQL and SSRS experience are particularly important, alongside the ability to manage reporting requests, investigate issues and deliver results in a fast-paced environment.
