Come for the paycheck. Stay because you actually like it here.
Braswell & Son has been family owned since 1979. We started as one small jewelry store in Little Rock. Today we have eight stores across Arkansas and Tennessee, and we're still growing. Every person who works here helped build that.
We're looking for someone to join our team as a Pawnbroker. You do not need pawn experience. You do not need a jewelry background. If you like people and you show up ready to work, we will teach you the rest.
What you'll actually do all day
No two customers are the same, and that's the fun part.
Greet every person who walks in like you're glad they came. Ask good questions and listen. Figure out what someone really needs. Look at what customers bring in — gold, diamonds, watches, designer bags, tools, electronics — and learn what it's worth. Write pawn loans. Explain the terms in plain words so nobody is confused. Sell great merchandise to people who are excited to buy it. Take care of the store, the money, and the merchandise you're trusted with. One hour you're helping someone pick out an engagement ring. The next you're helping a neighbor cover a car repair. Both matter.
Why people stay
A real paycheck, every Friday. Hourly base pay you can count on, plus commission and a weekly spiff when you hit your number. Your effort shows up in your bank account. A schedule you can plan your life around. We post schedules ahead. We are closed on major holidays. Training that doesn't stop after week one. You'll get a coach, a written 90-day plan, and someone to ask when you don't know. A team that has your back. Small stores, tight crews. Nobody gets left on the floor alone to figure it out.
Where this goes
This is a starting line, not a dead end. We promote from within. Our Pawnbrokers move up to Lead, Assistant Manager, and Store Manager. Some of our managers started exactly where you'd be starting.
By 2030 we plan to grow pawns to $4 million and earn 15,000 Google reviews. We need more leaders to get there. We'd rather grow them here.
Who does well here
Our best people come from everywhere — retail, restaurants, warehouses, banking, the military, and folks stepping into their first job or their second career. What they have in common:
You're honest, even when it costs you a sale. You like talking to strangers. You're steady. People can count on you to show up. You want to learn something you didn't know last year.
What the job requires
18 years or older High school diploma or GED Able to pass a background check that meets our standards and the law Able to stand and move for most of your shift, and lift up to 50 pounds, with or without reasonable accommodation Comfortable learning a computer and point-of-sale system Available for retail hours, including evenings and weekends Spanish/English bilingual is a plus, not a requirement
Pay and benefits
Base pay: $15 - $20 per hour, (depending on experience) paid weekly by direct deposit Weekly Commission on qualifying sales, plus a Weekly Productivity Spiff Health / Dental / Vision / PTO / 401(k) / Employee Discount / Gym Membership / Tuition Reimbursement
