Business Intelligence Analyst - Power BI

Location: Washington, D.C. (Onsite)

Role Overview

We are seeking a Business Intelligence Analyst with expertise in Power BI to join our team. This role is responsible for transforming complex business data into actionable insights through the design, development, and maintenance of reports, dashboards, and analytical solutions. The ideal candidate will combine analytical skills with technical proficiency in Power BI to support data-driven decision making. You will work with business stakeholders, data engineers, and leadership to understand requirements and deliver visualizations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design, build, and maintain interactive Power BI dashboards and reports.
  • Develop robust data models using Power Query and DAX, including relationships, calculated columns, and measures.
  • Perform in-depth data analysis to identify trends, patterns, and business opportunities.
  • Partner with business teams to gather requirements, define KPIs, and deliver tailored BI solutions.
  • Manage Power BI Service environments, including workspaces, apps, data gateways, and row-level security (RLS).
  • Connect and integrate data from multiple sources such as SQL databases, Excel, Azure, and APIs.
  • Optimize report performance, DAX queries, and data refresh schedules.
  • Implement automated reporting processes, alerts, and advanced analytics features.
  • Create documentation for reports and data models and provide training to end-users.
  • Ensure data accuracy, consistency, and compliance with governance standards.
  • Stay current with Power BI updates, new features, and industry best practices.
Required Qualifications
  • A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Data Analytics, Information Systems, or a related field is required.
  • This role requires 5+ years of experience in Business Intelligence, Data Analytics, or Data Engineering roles.
  • Proficiency in Power BI Desktop and Power BI service, including administration, RLS, and workspace management.
  • Expertise in data modeling, Power Query, ETL processes, and writing advanced DAX formulas.
  • Experience troubleshooting performance, refresh, and query issues in Power BI.
  • A strong command of SQL for querying databases and performing data validation.
  • Experience connecting Power BI to various data sources like SQL, Rest APIs, and Azure services.
  • Knowledge of modern BI Development practices, including governance, documentation, testing, and deployment.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
