Location:  Schenectady, NY (Hybrid)
Duration:  12 Months   (with potential for extension)

Hourly Rate: W2 $50-$70/hour

Overview:

We are seeking an AWS DevOps / CloudOps Engineer who will support our NYS client. This role will design, automate, secure, and support scalable AWS cloud infrastructure, with a focus on infrastructure-as-code, CI/CD, multi-account governance, monitoring, cost optimization, and reliable 24x7 operations and maintenance.


Duties:
  • Design, develop, and maintain infrastructure-as-code solutions and reusable templates for provisioning and managing AWS resources.
  • Automate the deployment, configuration, scaling, and lifecycle management of development, testing, sandbox, and production environments.
  • Design and maintain CI/CD pipelines that automate build, testing, deployment, release, rollback, blue/green, and canary deployment processes.
  • Implement AWS security controls, identity and access management, encryption, secrets management, compliance validation, and vulnerability remediation processes.
  • Support multi-account AWS governance, account provisioning, resource policies, tagging standards, cost allocation, and cloud account lifecycle management.
  • Develop automated sandbox and self-service environment provisioning capabilities while maintaining platform standards and controls.
  • Implement monitoring, alerting, logging, observability, dashboards, and health monitoring across cloud infrastructure and applications.
  • Support incident response, root cause analysis, patching, upgrades, maintenance windows, disaster recovery exercises, and operational problem resolution.
  • Create and maintain operational runbooks, standard operating procedures, recovery processes, and platform support documentation.
  • Monitor AWS consumption, optimize resource utilization and costs, support budgeting and forecasting, and recommend improvements that balance cost, performance, and reliability.
  • Provide ongoing operational support for AWS environments and participate in 24x7 on-call and operations and maintenance activities as required.
  • Collaborate with application development, architecture, security, governance, and operations teams to improve platform reliability and deployment efficiency.


Mandatory Qualifications:
  • Bachelor''s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in DevOps, Cloud Engineering, Site Reliability Engineering, or infrastructure operations.
  • 3+ years of hands-on experience supporting AWS cloud environments.
  • Strong experience with infrastructure-as-code methodologies and cloud automation practices.
  • Experience designing and maintaining CI/CD pipelines and release automation processes.
  • Experience implementing cloud monitoring, logging, alerting, and observability solutions.
  • Experience supporting cloud security, compliance, governance, identity and access management, encryption, and secrets management initiatives.
  • Experience supporting highly available, production-critical cloud environments and operational incident response.
  • Experience with multi-account governance, environment provisioning, configuration management, cost optimization, and AWS operational support.
  • Ability to participate in 24x7 operations, maintenance, incident response, and on-call rotations as required.


Desirable Qualifications:
  • Experience supporting multi-account AWS Organizations and cloud governance frameworks.
  • Experience with containerization and orchestration technologies.
  • Experience with disaster recovery and business continuity planning.
  • Experience supporting regulated or compliance-driven environments.
  • Experience with FinOps, cloud budgeting, forecasting, and cost allocation practices.
  • Knowledge of Site Reliability Engineering practices, automated scaling, self-service provisioning, blue/green deployments, and canary releases.


Educational & Certification Requirements:
  • Bachelor''s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field.
  • AWS Certified DevOps Engineer - Professional, AWS Certified Solutions Architect, or an equivalent AWS certification is preferred.
