Job Description

Full Circle Generation owns and operates an advanced thermal treatment facility in Belfast, playing a vital role in sustainable energy generation and waste recovery. We are seeking a highly motivated Mechanical Engineer to support the Engineering Manager in leading, coordinating and developing the mechanical maintenance function, ensuring the highest levels of plant reliability, availability and performance while maintaining exceptional standards of safety, quality and environmental compliance. This is an outstanding opportunity for an ambitious engineer who is looking to take genuine ownership of a critical power generation facility. The position offers end-to-end responsibility, encompassing both hands-on technical troubleshooting and strategic reliability improvements. We are looking for an individual who will take full ownership of plant performance and drive measurable improvements. Location: Full Circle Generation, Belfast Salary: £50,000- £60,000 based on experience Hours of work: Normal working hours are 40 hours, distributed 7:00am to 3:30pm, Monday to Friday. Occasional overtime as required. About The Role Duties & Responsibilities Implement and deliver Health, Safety & Environmental management policies Manage performance of designated Safe System of Work responsibilities as defined by the FCG Electrical and Mechanical Safety Rules Have active participation in site Safety meetings Assist in the development and implementation of the site Computerised Maintenance Management System Day-to-day management, supervision, planning, and co-ordination of departmental activities Manage development and delivery of maintenance techniques and procedures directed at increasing overall plant availability and performance Manage performance of troubleshooting, routine, scheduled and major repair maintenance on all site mechanical, pneumatic and hydraulic systems Manage quality control of all work associated with departmental activities on site, including supervision and control of sub-contractor works as required Carry out root cause analysis, develop a first-time-fix ethos Manage quality control of all work associated with departmental activities on site, including supervision and control of sub-contractor works as required Improve and nurture contract partner relationship and their ownership: demonstrated in quality, housekeeping, safety records Support outage planning, co-ordination and management Deputise for the Engineering Manager in their absence To apply please forward an up-to-date cv clearly outlining how you meet the above criteria before the closing date. Required Criteria Degree in a Mechanical Engineering discipline (Candidates with a relevant HNC/HND and significant, demonstrable experience in a senior mechanical engineering role within heavy industry may also be considered.) Experience of PSSR and LOLER certification Experience in the operation and/or maintenance of steam powered electricity generation equipment (including knowledge and understanding of health, safety and environmental legislation) Experience of Electricity Supply Industry standard Safe Systems of work, Safety Rules and Permit for Work Systems Comprehensive, practical experience in the preventative maintenance and defect repair / interrogation on process related mechanical equipment Full understanding of P&IDs and mechanical drawings, and the ability to read hydraulic, pneumatic and isometric diagrams Desired Criteria NEBOSH or IOSH qualification Strong, demonstrable experience with critical rotating plant, including heavy-duty industrial fans, pumps, and associated auxiliary systems.
