Technical Architect

Technical Architect | 6 Month Contract | (Outside IR35) | Hybrid, Glasgow| Starting ASAP

Day Rate: 700

About the Role:

Harvey Nash's public sector are currently undergoing a digital transformation to develop and continuously improve services based on user needs. This is a rare opportunity to help transform the way the government provides this critical public service to safeguard children and vulnerable adults.

To enable this transformation we are working collaboratively across the business to deliver and improve our services using agile methodologies. We'll design and deliver innovative, resilient and enabling technologies, products and services to meet the current and future.

The team consists of a Lead Technical Architect, a Cloud Architect, and two Technical (Solutions) Architects

• Design new systems, services and technical architectures in collaboration with technical teams
• Produce high-level systems documentation for technical teams to follow, for governance purposes and for accreditation purposes
• Work with technical teams to understand the technical impact of change, the limitations of current systems and the gaps between implemented functionality and desired functionality
• Innovation in creating low-cost, sustainable solutions that yield a low Total Cost of Ownership

Essential Skills & Experience:

• Experience with AWS (in last two years), ideally hands-on, but an ability to follow AWS architectures and technical conversations will be sufficient
• Experience with 2 or more of (in last five years): Java, Spring Boot, MySQL, Aurora DB
• Experience with Agile, ideally Scrum or KanBan
• Fast learner - able to land in the role and be self-sufficient in seeking out stakeholders and understanding the technical landscape
• Ability to work in complex, changing environments across multiple streams of work, working with multiple stakeholders
• Experience of solutions architecture within government facing projects

Desirable Qualifications

• Defining architectures on AWS based containerised platforms
• Demonstrable experience of working hands-on within delivery facing teams to solve problems and provide clarity to the team
• Existing SC clearance will be beneficial as it will allow the candidate to land quickly
