Position: Senior Software Engineer (Cloud Services)

Location: Birmingham, AL

Description, Role & Responsibilities:

• Senior Developer / Engineer who can collaborates and pairs with other product team members (engineering, and product management) to create secure, reliable, scalable software solutions.
• Design and develop secure, scalable, resilient cloud native microservices helps define and adheres to team working agreements.
• Participate in all phases of the integration development lifecycle, including unit testing and ongoing support.
• Collaborate with Architects and other Software Engineering resources in designing and implementing integrated, enterprise solutions.
• Ability to adapt to new and unique challenges, providing enterprise-class solutions. Potential to manage remote and offshore team members in the future.
• Excellent System design skills along with a strong knowledge of good architectural principles.
• Willingness and capability to train new developers as they come on board and mentor them to deliver projects and meet the timelines.
• Good Communication skills, and presentation skills. The job requires you to do a lot of whiteboarding and make good design decisions to implement the system.  

Required Skills:  

• Strong experience with Java and/or C#, event-driven architecture, microservices, RESTful APIs, Kafka, MongoDB, PostgreSQL, Terraform, and cloud platforms such as Google Cloud Platform (Google Cloud Platform), Amazon Web Services (AWS).
• Proven experience modernizing legacy applications into scalable, resilient, cloud-native, event-driven microservices.
• Hands-on experience with Quarkus is preferred. Experience with Spring Boot is also acceptable.
• Strong understanding of modern Java features, including the Stream API, functional programming, asynchronous programming with CompletableFuture, and concurrency using virtual threads.
• Hands-on experience with JDBC and ORM frameworks, along with strong knowledge of relational databases such as PostgreSQL and document-oriented databases such as MongoDB.
• Experience designing, developing, publishing, consuming, securing, versioning, and documenting RESTful APIs.
• Good understanding of Java and/or C#, event-driven design patterns, distributed systems, and polyglot microservice architectures.
• Strong experience designing and implementing front-end applications using TypeScript and frameworks such as React and/or Angular.
• Experience building CI/CD pipelines using Azure DevOps Pipelines and deploying containerized applications to Google Cloud Platform or other cloud platforms.
• Hands-on experience with infrastructure as code using Terraform.
• Proficient in software development best practices, including the SDLC, Git-based version control, automated testing, code reviews, and cloud application deployment.
• Good understanding of Agile delivery methodologies, including Scrum and Kanban.
• Strong skills in documenting code, APIs, architecture, and systems.

 Qualifications & Experience:

• BS degree in Computer Science or equivalent, with over 8 years of Enterprise Applications Development experience and a track record of writing applications in Java and/or C#.
• Experience working on large-scale modernization or greenfield SaaS projects.
• Experience with Test-Driven Development (TDD) and Quality Assurance.
