Software Engineer III – DevOps / CI/CD Engineer with Security Clearance

Blackstone Talent Group, an award-winning technology consulting and talent agency, is seeking a Software Engineer III - DevOps / CI/CD Engineer to join our Client's team. Overview Seeking a Software Engineer III to support the development and maintenance of scalable DevOps solutions, CI/CD pipelines, and automation capabilities supporting a large enterprise mission environment. This role is responsible for implementing reliable software delivery processes, enhancing system performance, and developing automation solutions that improve operational efficiency across a complex networked infrastructure. The ideal candidate will have experience with modern DevOps practices, software development, infrastructure automation, and enterprise-scale deployment environments. Responsibilities * Design, build, implement, and maintain CI/CD pipelines using tools such as GitLab and Jenkins.
* Develop and maintain software applications and automation solutions using Python, Java, Bash, and PowerShell.
* Implement Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and Software Defined Networking (SDN) solutions to support enterprise-scale environments.
* Create and maintain technical documentation including architecture diagrams, pipeline documentation, configuration guides, and operational procedures.
* Develop automation scripts and services to improve deployment, monitoring, and operational workflows.
* Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to build systems, CI/CD pipelines, software deployments, and cloud-based environments.
* Collaborate with software, systems, and infrastructure teams to improve reliability, scalability, and deployment efficiency.
* Develop, maintain, and present KPIs, operational metrics, and performance reports.
* Support software deployments and critical operational activities, including occasional evening or weekend work when required.
* Participate in Agile development activities and contribute to continuous process improvement initiatives.Required Qualifications * 3+ years of experience in software engineering, DevOps, automation, or related technical disciplines.
* Active Secret Security Clearance.
* U.S. Citizenship.
* Valid U.S. Passport and ability to travel as required.
* DoD 8140 compliant certification (Security+, SSCP, CISSP, GSEC, CISA, or equivalent).
* Experience developing software using Python and Java.
* Experience creating automation and scripting solutions using Bash and/or PowerShell.
* Understanding of object-oriented programming concepts.
* Experience integrating and consuming REST APIs.
* Experience with Git-based source control systems such as GitLab.
* Experience building, maintaining, or supporting CI/CD pipelines utilizing DevOps best practices.
* Understanding of Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC) methodologies and Agile development practices.
* Experience troubleshooting software, infrastructure, or pipeline-related issues.
* Strong communication skills with experience producing technical documentation and presentations.
* Ability to work effectively both independently and within collaborative engineering teams.Preferred Qualifications * Active Top Secret Clearance.
* Certification Required: DoD 8140 Compliant Certification (Security+, CISSP, SSCP, GSEC, etc.) * Experience supporting large-scale defense, command-and-control, or mission-critical systems.
* Experience developing operational metrics, KPIs, and reporting dashboards.
* Front-end development experience using JavaScript, React, TypeScript, HTML, and CSS.
* Experience with cybersecurity practices including vulnerability management, monitoring, and remediation.
* Experience with automation and IaC tools such as Terraform, Ansible, and VMware Aria.
* Knowledge of networking fundamentals and network device configuration.
* Experience with containerization technologies such as Docker.
* Exposure to Kubernetes or other container orchestration platforms.
* Experience working with cloud platforms including AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
