Location: Hoover, Alabama or Atlanta, GA - 3 days onsite and 2 days work from home

Role Overview

As a Release Train Engineer, you will manage and optimize the flow of value through the Agile Release Train (ART). In this role, you will lead ARTs, resolve and escalate impediments, manage risk, assure value delivery, and drive program-level continuous improvement. This is a 5-month contract position. To be considered, candidate's must have Jira Plans experience.

Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee medium-sized or two small to medium release trains with complex scope and inter-dependencies.
  • Facilitate the coordinated preparation of release planning for the ART, including communication with stakeholders.
  • Leverage agile delivery metrics and regular Agile ceremonies to identify and drive continuous improvement.
  • Resolve and report issues, and manage dependencies and risks across the ART and between ARTs.
  • Coordinate major feature releases and the ongoing delivery of value to customers.
  • Coach leaders, teams, and Scrum Masters in Lean-Agile practices and mindsets.
  • Manage changes to the quarterly plan and monitor overall coordination, execution, and delivery of value.
  • Facilitate communications and create retrospective improvement roadmaps.
  • Understand and operate within the Agile Release Train budget.
  • Collaborate with the Program Management Office (PMO) to maintain program execution.

Required Qualifications

Education & Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field and six (6) years of experience as a Release Train Engineer, Scrum Master, Product Owner, or Agile Project/Program Manager.
  • To be considered, candidate's must have Jira Plans experience.
  • OR High School Diploma or GED and ten (10) years of experience in one of the aforementioned roles.


Certifications/Licensures:
  • Scaled Agile certification such as Agile Practitioner or SAFE certified Release Train Engineer.


Skills and Competencies:
  • To be considered, candidate's must have Jira Plans experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to facilitate large planning and solutioning sessions.
  • Knowledge of patterns and techniques for filling gaps in the Scrum approach.
  • Ability to provide dynamic leadership to teams through direct management and influential leadership.
  • Effective prioritization and work assignment skills to meet deadlines.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical users at all levels.
  • Understanding of Agile at scale philosophies and methodologies.
  • Understanding of beneficial metrics, their interpretation, and how to correct project course based on findings.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience leveraging and interpreting agile metrics is preferred.
  • Prior management experience.
