Job Description

Automation Engineer

Summary

This role exists to strengthen privileged access management security by delivering end-to-end automation across Unix, Linux, and AIX server infrastructure. The engineer will replace legacy manual processes, maintain access elevation gateways between Active Directory and Unix environments, and support the shift toward modern SaaS access management tools.

Most of the work involves writing and executing original Ansible playbooks, developing custom automation scripts, and ensuring continuous access elevation availability. Success means delivering reliable automated workflows that streamline server lifecycle management and maintain strict security compliance across enterprise systems.

Responsibilities

  • Design, write, and execute custom Ansible playbooks from scratch to automate system remediation and self-healing.
  • Build and maintain script automation connecting Active Directory to Unix, Linux, and AIX systems for access elevation.
  • Automate testing and migration workflows as legacy homegrown access tools transition to modern SaaS platforms.
  • Write operational scripts in PowerShell, Perl, and TCL to streamline server lifecycle and identity workflows.
  • Gather and refine automation requirements directly with cross-functional technical teams, service partners, and subject matter experts.
  • Participate in a 1-in-5 week on-call rotation to support privileged access systems and critical automation infrastructure.

Required Experience

  • Strong experience creating and executing original Ansible playbooks from scratch.
  • 3+ years of experience in an infrastructure or security role focused on Unix/Linux operating systems.
  • Deep operational expertise with Unix systems including RHEL, AIX, Solaris, or broader *Nix environments.
  • Practical proficiency with PowerShell scripting for systems integration and automation.
  • Practical understanding of information security principles and privileged access elevation workflows.

Preferred Experience

  • Hands-on scripting experience using Perl, TCL, or Expect for legacy system interactions.
  • Experience developing and deploying automated self-healing solutions for production systems.
  • Practical experience working within a hybrid Kanban development framework.
  • Active CISSP certification.
