Job Description
We are seeking a detail-oriented GIS Specialist to support the manual geocoding of approximately 10,000 residential addresses across three of the UK's leading longitudinal cohort studies: NCDS, BCS70 and Next Steps.
Working with ArcGIS Pro, historic Ordnance Survey mapping and AddressBase data, you will identify residential property locations and assign accurate property centroids and, where available, Unique Property Reference Numbers (UPRNs). This role requires excellent attention to detail, strong problem-solving skills, and the ability to resolve incomplete or inaccurate address information using a range of spatial data sources.

The ideal candidate will have the following skills and experience:
- A degree in GIS, Geography, Urban Planning or a related subject (or equivalent experience).
- Experience of geocoding and working with GIS software, particularly ArcGIS Pro or QGIS.
- Strong analytical and data management skills, including data quality assurance and basic SQL.
- Excellent knowledge of the geography of Great Britain.
- The ability to work accurately and independently while managing deadlines.
- Strong communication and organisational skills.

- Contract till the end of December 2026
- Occasional office attendance at the Bloomsbury Office but not necessarily every week.
- Pay Rate: £23.11 per hour PAYE plus holiday pay or £31.34 per hour paid via a Umbrella Company (Annual Equivalent is £43,981)
