Job Description

Your new company Join a large public sector organisation's Chief Data Office, where you will contribute to the delivery of an ambitious digital and data strategy. Working within the Data Engineering team, you will support enterprise-wide data platforms that enable analytics, reporting, business intelligence, and operational decision-making.

Your new role As a Senior Data Engineer, you will play a key role in developing and maintaining on-premises data warehouses, cloud-based data lakes, and analytics platforms. You will design and support ETL/ELT pipelines, data integration solutions, data models, SQL and Python workflows, pipeline orchestration, automation, and platform optimisation. You will work closely with stakeholders to deliver scalable, reliable, and secure data solutions while contributing to data governance, DevOps/DataOps practices, version control, and continuous improvement initiatives.

What you'll need to succeed
  • Proven experience as a Senior Data Engineer.
  • At least 5 years' experience developing scalable ETL/ELT pipelines in complex operational environments.
  • Strong experience in data storage, structured and unstructured data management, data integration, ETL/ELT, data cataloguing, lineage management, pipeline orchestration, automation, data models, migration, and archiving.
  • Extensive experience with SQL and Python.
  • Experience supporting both on-premises and cloud-based data engineering, governance, analytics, and business intelligence platforms.
  • Strong data integration, cleansing, and migration experience across large and complex datasets.
  • Experience with version control tools such as GitHub or BitBucket and collaboration tools including Jira and Confluence.
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement, communication, problem-solving, and organisational skills.
