Senior Developer – eXPRS Application

Job Description

We are looking for an experienced Senior Developer to support the development, enhancement, maintenance, and support of the ODHS/ODDS eXPRS application. The developer will work with business users, product owners, architects, technical leads, and development teams to deliver application enhancements, fix defects, improve performance, and support ongoing Operations and Maintenance activities.

The role requires strong experience in Java, J2EE, IBM DB2 UDB, Eclipse, and eXPRS application development, along with experience working in a state government environment and Agile/Scrum teams.

Responsibilities

• Develop, enhance, maintain, and troubleshoot the eXPRS application.
• Fix application bugs and production issues.
• Complete application enhancement, maintenance, performance, refactoring, UI, data, and reporting requests.
• Develop and modify Java/J2EE application code.
• Work with IBM DB2 UDB databases and implement database changes.
• Analyze business and technical requirements and develop appropriate solutions.
• Create technical designs, specifications, use cases, and documentation.
• Work with business analysts, product owners, architects, technical leads, and other stakeholders.
• Participate in daily Scrum meetings, sprint planning, sprint reviews, and other Agile meetings.
• Work on two-week sprints and provide regular status updates.
• Develop prototypes and demonstrate completed functionality to stakeholders.
• Estimate development effort and identify technical dependencies and risks.
• Use Azure DevOps (ADOS) for requirements, backlog, task, defect, and issue tracking.
• Follow established development standards, naming conventions, and technical processes.
• Support application performance, maintenance, refactoring, and modernization.
• Document completed enhancements and technical changes.
• Provide knowledge transfer and technical guidance to existing team members.

Education

• Bachelor''s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field preferred.
• Equivalent professional experience may be considered.

Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate is a Senior/SME-level Java developer with 10+ years of software development experience, strong J2EE and IBM DB2 UDB expertise, recent state government experience, and 1–3 years of eXPRS application development experience. The candidate should be comfortable working in an Agile environment, communicating with business and technical stakeholders, resolving complex application issues, and delivering high-quality software within sprint timelines.
