Job Overview

We are seeking a Senior Proofpoint Messaging Security Engineer with extensive hands-on experience in enterprise email security environments. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise with Proofpoint, including IronPort-to-Proofpoint migrations, Proofpoint Messaging Security Gateway 8.x, firewall rule configuration, email block/quarantine management, Linux, and VMware.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and support the migration of on-premises Cisco IronPort email security appliances to Proofpoint cloud-based email security, ensuring a smooth transition with minimal impact to enterprise email services.
• Design, configure, implement, and maintain Proofpoint as an enterprise-grade email security solution.
• Configure and manage Proofpoint firewall rules, email filtering policies, and enterprise block/allow lists.
• Manage email quarantine operations, including responding to requests to quarantine, review, release, and manage messages within Proofpoint.
• Configure, administer, and troubleshoot Proofpoint Messaging Security Gateway (MSG) environments.
• Apply a strong understanding of Mail Transfer Agents (MTA), SMTP, mail flow, and enterprise messaging infrastructure to troubleshoot complex email delivery and security issues.
• Provide hands-on support for Proofpoint Messaging Security Gateway 8.x environments.
• Administer and troubleshoot applications and services running in Linux server environments.
• Support and troubleshoot VMware and virtualized infrastructure associated with enterprise messaging and security systems.
• Investigate and resolve complex enterprise email security, messaging, mail-flow, filtering, and delivery issues.
• Maintain a strong understanding of email security architecture, filtering technologies, quarantine management, mail routing, and enterprise messaging infrastructure.
• Collaborate with infrastructure, network, security, and messaging teams to ensure reliable and secure enterprise email operations.

Required Qualifications

• Strong hands-on enterprise Proofpoint experience.
• Proven experience leading or supporting IronPort-to-Proofpoint migrations.
• Hands-on experience with Proofpoint Messaging Security Gateway 8.x.
• Strong knowledge of Proofpoint firewall rules and email block/allow list management.
• Experience managing email quarantine, release, and message-handling requests.
• Deep understanding of MTA, SMTP, mail flow, and enterprise messaging environments.
• Strong Linux Server administration and troubleshooting experience.
• Hands-on experience with VMware/virtualized environments.
• Strong troubleshooting skills across complex email security and messaging infrastructure.
• Solid understanding of enterprise email security architecture, filtering, mail routing, and quarantine management.
