Job Title: Senior Software Developer

Location: Rockville, MD, USA

Duration: 24 Months + Extension

Bill Rate: $70/hour

Job Type: C2C/1099 Contract

Key Responsibilities
AWS Cloud Migration
  • Lead and execute migration initiatives for enterprise Java/J2EE applications from on-premises environments to AWS.
  • Develop and implement migration strategies including Rehosting, Replatforming, Refactoring, and Application Modernization.
  • Analyze existing applications and recommend the most suitable cloud migration approach.
Application Design & Development
  • Design, develop, and enhance Java-based enterprise applications.
  • Build reusable migration frameworks, utilities, and reference implementations.
  • Collaborate with technical teams to modernize legacy applications using cloud-native architectures.
  • Perform hands-on coding, prototyping, and solution implementation.
Application Modernization
  • Refactor monolithic applications into modular or microservices-based architectures.
  • Optimize existing Java/J2EE applications for improved scalability and maintainability.
  • Integrate applications with AWS-native services and cloud capabilities.
AWS Services Integration
Implement and integrate AWS services including but not limited to:
  • Amazon EC2
  • Amazon ECS / Amazon EKS
  • AWS Lambda
  • Amazon API Gateway
  • Amazon S3
  • Amazon RDS
Design solutions that support high availability, scalability, and disaster recovery using AWS best practices.
Containerization & DevOps
  • Containerize enterprise applications using Docker.
  • Deploy workloads using Amazon ECS or Amazon EKS (Kubernetes).
  • Develop Infrastructure as Code (IaC) solutions using:
    • AWS CloudFormation
    • AWS SAM
    • Terraform
  • Support CI/CD automation and deployment pipelines.
Cloud Governance
  • Follow cloud architecture standards and development best practices.
  • Recommend solutions that improve operational efficiency while optimizing cloud resources and scalability.
  • Ensure security, compliance, and maintainability across cloud environments.
Collaboration
  • Work closely with architects, technical leads, Scrum teams, and cross-functional stakeholders.
  • Participate in Agile ceremonies including sprint planning, reviews, and retrospectives.
  • Provide regular updates on migration progress and technical deliverables.
