This is a senior technical leadership role that combines engineering strategy, people leadership, customer engagement, and hands-on technical oversight. The Director will lead a cross-functional team of security engineers and partner closely with Security Operations, Sales, partner vendor teams, and customer teams to deliver secure, scalable, and supportable solutions.

We are seeking a Director of Security Engineering to lead the team responsible for designing, implementing, and optimizing the security technologies that support our managed cybersecurity services.
This is a senior technical leadership role that combines engineering strategy, people leadership, customer engagement, and hands-on technical oversight. The Director will lead a cross-functional team of security engineers and partner closely with Security Operations, Sales, partner vendor teams, and customer teams to deliver secure, scalable, and supportable solutions.
Responsibilities:
- Lead, develop, and mentor a high-performing security engineering team.
- Define the technical strategy, architecture standards, and roadmap for our security platforms.
- Oversee the design, deployment, integration, and lifecycle management of technologies including SIEM, EDR/XDR, DLP, network and cloud security, and security automation.
- Identify and implement practical applications of AI across security engineering operations to improve engineering efficiency, accelerate troubleshooting and analysis, automate repeatable workflows, and enhance the scalability of managed services.
- Review complex technical designs and serve as the senior escalation point for engineering and customer issues.
- Lead engineering efforts for customer onboarding, platform deployments, migrations, service expansions, and modernization initiatives.
- Work directly with customers to understand requirements, present architectures, explain technical decisions, and resolve concerns.
- Partner with Security Operations, Sales, and the PMO to ensure solutions are delivered successfully and can be effectively operated and supported.
- Drive automation, standardization, platform reliability, and continuous improvement across the engineering organization.
- Evaluate emerging technologies and vendors and make recommendations on adoption, modernization, and retirement.
- Manage engineering priorities, staffing, hiring, performance, professional development, and delivery risk.
- Support solution development, technical proposals, and strategic customer engagements.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Skills
- 15+ years of experience in cybersecurity, security engineering, network engineering, infrastructure engineering, or a related technical discipline.
- 5+ years of experience leading technical teams in cybersecurity, IT, network operations, or security operations environments. Preference will be given to applicants who have led large cybersecurity engineering teams at the Director level or above.
- Strong understanding of enterprise security architectures, including several of the following: SIEM and security analytics; EDR/XDR and endpoint security; data loss prevention; network and cloud security; Security Orchestration, Automation, and Response (SOAR); Identity and security integrations; and logging, telemetry, and monitoring systems.
- Experience designing, deploying, integrating, or operating security technologies in complex enterprise or multi-customer environments.
- Experience establishing engineering standards, architecture practices, and technical roadmaps.
- Experience leading major technical implementations, migrations, integrations, or modernization efforts.
- Ability to troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues across security, network, infrastructure, and cloud environments.
- Proven ability to build, mentor, and lead high-performing technical teams.
- Strong ability to translate business and operational goals into engineering priorities and execution plans.
- Experience managing multiple concurrent projects, priorities, risks, and customer commitments.
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Strong customer-facing experience with the ability to engage technical leaders, executives, and stakeholders.
- Sound technical judgment with the ability to evaluate tradeoffs across security, reliability, cost, scalability, and operational impact.
Desired Skills
- Experience supporting or leading engineering within a managed security services, managed detection and response, security operations, or other multi-customer service environment.
- Demonstrated understanding of how AI can be applied to security engineering operations, including engineering automation, troubleshooting, configuration analysis, platform optimization, knowledge management, and technical workflow acceleration.
- Strong familiarity with public cloud security architectures and technologies.
- Experience with security automation, infrastructure-as-code, APIs, scripting, or other approaches to improving engineering efficiency and repeatability.
- Experience developing and managing relationships with cybersecurity technology vendors, service providers, and consultants.
- Experience evaluating technology contracts, licensing models, service agreements, and service-level agreements.
- Demonstrated success modernizing security platforms or engineering practices while maintaining service continuity.
- Experience influencing organizational security culture and promoting engineering discipline and security-first decision-making.
- Demonstrated ability to lead teams successfully through organizational, technical, or operational change.
- CISSP certification or comparable advanced cybersecurity certification preferred.
