Job Description

About the Role

This is a foundational senior engineering role at an early-stage industrial robotics startup in Munich, owning the full robotics software stack for an intelligent robotic work cell purpose-built for demanding industrial tasks — surface finishing, welding, and coating. You'll be one of the earliest technical hires on a small, ambitious team pushing the limits of real-world robotic automation.

What You'll Do

  • Own and drive the core robotics software stack end-to-end, from architecture to deployment.

  • Develop and continuously optimize motion planning, trajectory generation, and low-level control algorithms for industrial robot arms.

  • Integrate perception systems — cameras, force/torque sensors, and LiDAR — into real-time control loops.

  • Design and implement industrial safety concepts and robust fail-safe behaviors.

  • Lead on-site testing, calibration, and commissioning of the robotic work cell.

  • Set engineering architecture standards and best practices across the team.

What We're Looking For

  • 5+ years of hands-on experience in robotics engineering, with a strong emphasis on real-world industrial hardware (e.g. KUKA, ABB, Fanuc, or Universal Robots arms).

  • Proven expertise in motion planning, kinematics, dynamics, and trajectory generation in production environments — simulation-only backgrounds are not a fit.

  • Strong proficiency in C++ and/or Python, and solid experience with ROS 2.

  • Experience integrating force/torque sensors and vision systems into real-time control pipelines.

  • Familiarity with 3D CAD tools such as SolidWorks or CATIA.

  • Knowledge of industrial communication protocols such as EtherCAT and OPC-UA.

  • Background in surface finishing, welding, or coating automation is a strong plus.

  • Already eligible to work in Germany (no visa sponsorship available).

  • Able and willing to work on-site in Munich.

Compensation & Benefits

Estimated cash compensation in the range of €75,000 – €110,000 annually, plus meaningful equity participation. Visa sponsorship is not available — candidates must already be eligible to work in Germany.

Location

On-site, Munich, Bavaria, Germany. This role is fully on-site; remote work is not available.
