Network Engineer – Cisco Enhanced Packet Core (EPC) Managed Services
Quick Overview
Job Description
Role Summary
We are hiring Network Engineers to support lab and production testing, deployment, and upgrade activities for Cisco Enhanced Packet Core products, as well as ongoing network optimization and post-launch support. Engineers will work directly with the customer''s networking staff and Cisco''s management team on testing, design consultation, change management, and escalation support.
Responsibilities
• Provide software and technical advisory support for incremental changes to architecture, network, and applicable Cisco devices, including customer lab environments.
• Participate in consulting meetings with the customer to understand solution-oriented testing goals and requirements.
• Execute network testing in the customer''s lab environment and report findings, including: reviewing testing goals and business objectives, developing or refining test plans, executing tests, and documenting results in test reports.
• Design and implement lab equipment upgrades and new features; provide design and workshop consulting services to the customer.
• Develop migration guides for lab-to-production activity and provide migration/implementation support for Production First Office Application (FOA) nights of activity.
• Offer knowledge of the network to Cisco''s TAC or HTTS teams to help expedite restoration of service during escalations. (Engineers do not take ownership of Service Requests, independently troubleshoot, or provide behind-the-scenes triage — all escalation work is conducted through TAC SR support.)
• Consult with customer networking staff to understand network design requirements, focusing on resiliency, self-recovery, scalability, and the ability to handle increased traffic demands and QoS.
• Provide current and incremental network design and architecture consultation.
• Provide ongoing information on design-related Cisco security alerts that may impact key network products.
• Evaluate the potential impact of proposed scheduled network changes, review implementation procedures, and assist in resolving hardware/configuration problems during major deployments into a live network.
• Conduct or participate in knowledge transfer sessions, providing the customer with informal training on their deployed Cisco infrastructure.
• Schedule and support scheduled network changes to minimize risk of error, including evaluating change impact, reviewing implementation procedures, and providing remote support during major production network activities.
• Provide support for Quarterly Business Review (QBR) reporting when required, including reporting on activities/outcomes, risk assessments, and 90-day planning.
• Actively participate in weekly conference calls between the customer and Cisco.
• Participate in monthly service review meetings to confirm fulfillment of services and required document deliverables, including SLA achievement.
Requirements
• Must be able to work onsite in Bellevue, WA during standard business hours (8:00 AM – 5:00 PM local time, Monday–Friday).
• Must be available to start on the confirmed service commencement date (T0) and remain available for the full engagement term.
• Must be able to pass the Contingent Worker Onboarding (CWO) process, including third-party background screening, prior to accessing customer premises or network.
• Must be able to complete a Cisco-approved health and safety course prior to performing onsite services, if requested.
• Must be available to respond to critical incidents within 2 hours, on a 24x7 basis when required.
Working Conditions
• Standard business hours coverage, 5 days per week; occasional overtime coverage may be required and must be approved by the customer/Cisco.
• Onsite presence required; unplanned/unscheduled absences are not permitted without prior formal notice and approval.
• Planned absences (e.g., vacation) require advance written approval to avoid resource overlap.
Required Skillsets
• Hands-on experience with Cisco Enhanced Packet Core products and 5G call flow troubleshooting.
• Ability to develop, execute, and refine network test plans, and document results in formal test reports.
• Experience designing and implementing lab equipment upgrades and new feature rollouts.
• Ability to build migration guides and support lab-to-production migration activity, including Production First Office Application (FOA) nights.
• Working knowledge of network design principles — resiliency, self-recovery, scalability, and Quality of Service (QoS) — to support design and architecture consultation.
• Familiarity with reviewing and applying Cisco security alerts/advisories to network products.
• Experience evaluating and reviewing implementation procedures for scheduled network changes, including risk/impact assessment.
• Ability to troubleshoot and support production network hardware and configuration issues during live deployments.
• Working knowledge of TAC/HTTS escalation processes — able to advise and share network knowledge without taking ownership of a Service Request.
• Strong communication and presentation skills for conducting knowledge transfer and informal training sessions with customer staff.
• Ability to produce clear, professional documentation (test reports, migration guides, QBR reporting, service review materials).
• Comfortable participating in recurring customer-facing meetings (weekly conference calls, monthly service reviews) and articulating technical status to non-technical stakeholders.
