Job Description

Title: Cloud Architect

Duration: 12+ months

Location: Remote-Must be current Wisconsin state resident. Potential onsite visits, 1-2 times for the duration of the contract)

About the role

In this role, you will act as a trusted technical advisor to senior leaders while providing hands-on technical leadership across cloud architecture, DevSecOps engineering, and enterprise security operations. You will help operationalize security controls, guide risk governance decisions, and support statewide cybersecurity initiatives in a highly visible environment. You will also play a key role in mentoring and upskilling infrastructure and security operations staff through pair engineering, technical coaching, and engineering leadership.

Key responsibilities
  • Serve as a trusted technical advisor to the CISO, CIO, and other senior executive stakeholders
  • Support the implementation of the Accelerated Exposure Reduction Plan across a large, complex enterprise environment
  • Provide senior-level technical leadership in cloud architecture and DevSecOps engineering
  • Operationalize security controls, including tiering models, compensating control validation, and time-bound risk governance structures
  • Mentor, train, and upskill infrastructure and security operations staff through pair engineering and technical coaching
  • Partner with cross-functional teams to strengthen enterprise security posture and exposure reduction effort
  • Guide best practices across security engineering, infrastructure, and cloud operations


Required experience

Candidates must be able to demonstrate prior experience in large and complex environments with the following:
  • Serving as a trusted technical advisor to CISOs, CIOs, or senior executive leaders within public sector or heavily federated enterprise environments
  • Acting as a technical mentor, trainer, or engineering lead focused on pair engineering and technical upskilling
  • Operationalizing security controls, including tiering models, compensating control validation, and time-bound risk governance structures
  • Delivering cloud architecture and DevSecOps engineering solutions


Required technical expertise

Strong experience with the following enterprise cybersecurity and engineering technologies is required:
  • Google Threat Intelligence / VirusTotal
  • Google SecOps
  • Mandiant ASM
  • Tenable.io
  • Microsoft Azure Arc
  • GitHub
  • GitHub Advanced Security
  • Ansible Tower
  • Gemini and Anthropic AI security frameworks


Nice to have
  • Experience working in federated or government environments
  • Broader exposure to Google, Microsoft, AWS, and Splunk environments
