The Role

As a Technical Sales Representative, you will own a sales territory and be responsible for achieving and growing revenue within that territory.

You will call on power utilities, NETA testing firms, industrial accounts, and electrical OEMs. You will understand customer requirements, match the appropriate electrical test equipment to their applications, and close and grow business.

This is a hunter and farmer role, not an order-taker position. You will be responsible for developing new business while also growing existing customer relationships.

What You Will Do

  • Own the sales number for your territory.
  • Build, manage, and develop your sales pipeline.
  • Prospect for new customers and opportunities.
  • Sell technical test equipment to utilities, NETA firms, substations, and electrical OEMs.
  • Sell equipment and solutions related to:
    • Transformer diagnostics
    • Breaker and contact resistance testing
    • SF6 analysis
    • Corona and thermal imaging
    • Power quality
    • Hipot testing
    • Battery testing
  • Conduct product demonstrations and technical presentations at customer sites, trade shows, and utility conferences.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with utility engineers, substation managers, NETA technicians, and other technical decision-makers.
  • Coordinate with independent manufacturer representative firms in your region to expand your reach.
  • Maintain accurate pipeline and quote information in the CRM.
  • Follow up on outstanding and aging quotes to ensure opportunities continue moving forward.
  • Work closely with vendors such as DV Power, RH Systems, and other manufacturers to effectively position products.
  • Stay current on product technology and industry developments.
  • Close new business and grow existing accounts.
  • Travel approximately 40% throughout your assigned territory.

Required Qualifications

  • Formal education in Electrical Power Technology or Electrical Engineering.
  • Bachelor''s degree preferred.
  • Associate degree or equivalent technical training in electrical power will be considered.
  • 3+ years of experience selling technical or engineered products into the electrical power industry.
  • Experience selling to one or more of the following:
    • Power utilities
    • NETA testing firms
    • Electrical testing companies
    • Electrical equipment OEMs
  • Comfortable discussing test and measurement, substation testing, or power quality with engineers and technical end users.
  • Proven track record of carrying and achieving a sales quota/number.
  • Strong presentation and communication skills with utility engineers, substation managers, and NETA technicians.
  • Comfortable using CRM systems and Microsoft Office.
  • Valid driver''s license.
  • Ability and willingness to travel approximately 40%.
  • Ability to lift demonstration equipment weighing up to 40 lbs.

Important

This position requires an analog electrical power background. Experience in IT, data networking, or unrelated technical sales does not meet the primary requirements of this role.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Existing relationships with utilities, NETA firms, or industrial testing markets in the Midwest or Mid-Atlantic.
  • Experience with:
    • Transformer testing
    • SF6 gas analysis
    • Circuit breaker testing
    • Thermal imaging
    • Corona imaging
    • Battery bank testing
    • Power quality testing
  • Existing relationships within the electrical power and utility industry.

Who Fits This Role?

The ideal candidate is a technically knowledgeable sales professional who understands the electrical power industry and can communicate effectively with engineers, utility professionals, and NETA technicians.

You should be comfortable developing new business, managing existing accounts, carrying a sales quota, conducting technical presentations, and following up consistently to close opportunities.

If you are an experienced technical sales professional in the electrical power industry who wants to own a territory, build customer relationships, earn uncapped commission, and grow with the company, this is an excellent opportunity.
