Job Requirements-
 
•             The contractor will focus on collecting and consolidating material information that currently exists only at a part-level across documents and suppliers, making it device-level and searchable in the new database.
 
•             This database is a significant organizational tool for tender responses and regulatory questions; rapid population reduces repeated manual digging on weekly tender inquiries.
 
•             The role is short-term and tactical: get material entries in place now, then later assess deeper subject-matter coverage (e.g., toxicology) as needed.
Role responsibilities & deliverables
 
•             Populate the material database with material-specific information (SDS, chemical names, CAS numbers, supplier data) and respond to frequent tender queries requiring device-level material details.
 
•             Perform data ingestion, cleaning, document review, and supplier outreach to source missing information.
 
•             Support ad-hoc activities to answer current engineering and regulatory questions while the database is being built.
 
•             Deliverable target: database populated by year-end; immediate objective: onboard and begin data population as soon as contractor is cleared and provisioned.
 
Candidate profile & must-haves-
 
•             Prefer degrees/experience in chemistry, chemical engineering, or materials science (material scientist/materials engineer title acceptable).
 
•             3–5 years of relevant experience is adequate; emphasis on comfort with material information rather than seniority.
 
•             Must be comfortable reading and extracting info from safety data sheets (SDS), recognizing chemical names and CAS numbers, and mapping those to materials used in devices.
 
•             Strong data-management skills and willingness to perform repetitive data entry; proficiency with Excel is required.
 
•             Domain preference: polymer/plastics experience is more valuable than metals; regulated-industry background (medical devices, pharma) is beneficial but not mandatory.
