Job Overview

Our client is seeking an experienced Database Developer to support the migration of a large-scale KDB+ data platform to Snowflake. This role involves designing, developing, and optimizing a new Snowflake-based data platform while supporting the existing KDB+ environment. The ideal candidate will collaborate closely with business stakeholders, contribute to data architecture and platform migration, and help build scalable, high-performance data solutions supporting critical financial data workflows.

 

Responsibilities

  • Lead the migration of data and applications from KDB+ to Snowflake.
  • Design, develop, and optimize scalable database solutions for large-scale data platforms.
  • Review and enhance data management processes, data models, and access controls.
  • Collaborate with business stakeholders to understand requirements and define migration strategies.
  • Support and maintain the existing KDB+ platform during the migration process.
  • Develop and optimize data engineering solutions on Snowflake and other cloud platforms.
  • Perform database performance tuning, testing, version upgrades, and platform enhancements.
  • Develop Python scripts for automation and data processing tasks.
  • Ensure high availability, performance, and resiliency of enterprise data platforms.
  • Participate in Agile development activities and deliver high-quality solutions within project timelines.

 

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience with Snowflake or other cloud-based data platforms.
  • Strong knowledge of RDBMS technologies and database performance optimization.
  • Experience with Python scripting and development.
  • Familiarity with Unix/Linux operating systems.
  • Knowledge of SQL, database engineering, and data management concepts.
  • Understanding of data modeling and ETL processes.
  • Exposure to KDB+/q or a strong willingness to learn.
  • Experience working with large-scale transactional or time-series data platforms is preferred.
  • Understanding of financial data domains such as inventory, position data, securities lending, or prime brokerage is a plus.
  • Experience working in Agile development environments.
  • Strong communication, problem-solving, stakeholder management, and collaboration skills.
  • High level of ownership, accountability, and eagerness to learn new technologies.
