Job Overview
Our client is seeking an experienced Database Developer to support the migration of a large-scale KDB+ data platform to Snowflake. This role involves designing, developing, and optimizing a new Snowflake-based data platform while supporting the existing KDB+ environment. The ideal candidate will collaborate closely with business stakeholders, contribute to data architecture and platform migration, and help build scalable, high-performance data solutions supporting critical financial data workflows.
Responsibilities
- Lead the migration of data and applications from KDB+ to Snowflake.
- Design, develop, and optimize scalable database solutions for large-scale data platforms.
- Review and enhance data management processes, data models, and access controls.
- Collaborate with business stakeholders to understand requirements and define migration strategies.
- Support and maintain the existing KDB+ platform during the migration process.
- Develop and optimize data engineering solutions on Snowflake and other cloud platforms.
- Perform database performance tuning, testing, version upgrades, and platform enhancements.
- Develop Python scripts for automation and data processing tasks.
- Ensure high availability, performance, and resiliency of enterprise data platforms.
- Participate in Agile development activities and deliver high-quality solutions within project timelines.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Experience with Snowflake or other cloud-based data platforms.
- Strong knowledge of RDBMS technologies and database performance optimization.
- Experience with Python scripting and development.
- Familiarity with Unix/Linux operating systems.
- Knowledge of SQL, database engineering, and data management concepts.
- Understanding of data modeling and ETL processes.
- Exposure to KDB+/q or a strong willingness to learn.
- Experience working with large-scale transactional or time-series data platforms is preferred.
- Understanding of financial data domains such as inventory, position data, securities lending, or prime brokerage is a plus.
- Experience working in Agile development environments.
- Strong communication, problem-solving, stakeholder management, and collaboration skills.
- High level of ownership, accountability, and eagerness to learn new technologies.
