GAZ - EL2 - Project Delivery Lead - Information Technology

Position Overview

The Project Delivery Lead will lead a team of Project Managers and Project Coordinators to deliver IT initiatives that drive digital transformation, enterprise system upgrades, infrastructure improvements, cyber security uplift and innovation. Reporting to the Director IT Governance & Engagement, this role ensures projects are delivered in alignment with IT governance frameworks, strategic objectives, and stakeholder expectations. You will work closely with IT leadership to deliver projects sponsored by the executive team, and support the broader IT team to apply portfolio, project, and change management. Leading the use of agile, responsive, and efficient process is an essential component of the role, and in ensuring a continuous improvement mindset in how projects are delivered. The position requires excellent communication and interpersonal skills, supported by demonstrated experience in IT project management methodologies. Attention to detail is essential to ensure critical tasks are managed and risks are identified and addressed.

Leadership & Team Management
  • Lead and mentor a team of project managers and project coordinators
  • Promote a high-performance culture focused on delivery excellence, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
Project Delivery Oversight
  • Oversee the management of list of identified projects
  • Facilitate the process of reviewing new projects, and contribute to the prioritisation of projects with the IT Leadership team
  • Monitor project delivery performance, provide dashboards or other tools to ensure IT Leadership and Court & Tribunal stakeholders remain informed
  • Manage team resources, assist in identifying resourcing constraints and facilitating agreement with relevant managers on allocation
Project Delivery (Management)
  • Manage key IT projects from initiation to completion. Ensuring all phases and aspects are effectively managed.
  • Lead and support the development and continual improvement of project management practices and tools
Governance & Compliance
  • Ensure all projects adhere to IT governance, risk, and compliance frameworks; champion standardisation of project management practices across the IT division, whilst allowing for flexibility to meet specific project requirements
  • Identify and report on project risks, liaising with stakeholders to ensure all risks and issues are identified, recorded, and managed.
Stakeholder Engagement
  • Build strong relationships with internal stakeholders including senior leadership across the courts and tribunal
  • Manage escalations and ensure timely resolution of issues
  • Engage with vendors/partners, ensuring effective collaboration to deliver on projects
  • Facilitate effective communication and decision making across project teams, and governance groups
Selection Criteria
  • Proven ability to effectively lead and manage a team of Project Managers & Project Coordinators.
  • Extensive experience in managing complex IT projects in a large enterprise environment.
  • Deep understanding of the implementation and use of IT project delivery methodologies (such as Agile, Waterfall, Hybrid) and contemporary Project Management tools.
  • Strong communication (oral and written) and liaison skills, including the ability to communicate with people at all levels in a dispersed setting (e.g., working remotely with business and technical teams).
  • Demonstrated ability to work both under broad direction and independently to achieve agreed goals and quality outcomes of IT project delivery.
Other Requirements (Desirable)
  • Certifications such as PMP, PRINCE2, MSP, or Agile (Scrum Master, SAFe).
  • Relevant tertiary qualifications in IT, Project Management, or Business.
  • Understanding of court operations, either Commonwealth or State
Eligibility

Employment with the Court is subject to the conditions prescribed in the Public Service Act 1999, and the following:

  • Australian citizenship - the successful applicant must hold Australian citizenship.
  • Security and character clearance - the successful applicant must satisfy a Police Records Check and may also be required to complete security clearances during their employment.
  • Successful applicants engaged into the APS will be subject to a probation period.
  • Interested candidates who have received a redundancy benefit from an APS agency are welcome to apply but note that they cannot be engaged until their redundancy benefit period has expired.
