Job Description

Title: Full stack Engineer

Location: DC Metro Area, Rockville, MD, Tysons, VA (Hybrid - 3 days onsite)

Duration: 6 Months with possible extension

Interview process: Phone, Onsite panel

Job Summary:

Full Stack Engineer supporting the eFOCUS team, backfilling an existing engineering position.

Team supports both eFOCUS and SEC FOCUS across multiple projects and works closely with the SEC, including weekly meetings.

eFOCUS is a large application used by financial firms to submit financial data.

Need an engineer who can contribute across UI, backend, DevOps, security remediation, and automated testing.

Rockville preferred; Virginia is also acceptable.

Core Technical Skills

Strong full-stack development experience.

Front end is especially important:

Angular

React

JavaScript

TypeScript

Strong Java backend development experience.

DevOps experience, including supporting application deployments and development processes.

Experience addressing security/remediation tickets.

Strong test automation experience, including maintaining appropriate unit-test coverage.

Experience with GitLab; team is currently migrating components to GitLab.

AWS certifications are a nice to have.

GenAI/AI-related certifications are a plus.

AI & Engineering Approach

AI is central to the team's development process, including the use of Amazon Q/Q Developer or similar AI-assisted development tools.

Engineers should know how to use AI effectively rather than relying on it to do the work for them.

Ability to develop strong prompts, validate AI-generated output, and ensure requirements or technical considerations are not missed.

Must understand the architecture and application thoroughly enough to evaluate the broader impact of changes.

Looking for engineers who think beyond simply completing code and consider dependencies, downstream impacts, security, testing, and overall system quality.

Ideal Candidate Profile

Self-motivated and self-driven with the ability to take ownership without needing to be constantly nudged or spoon-fed.

Highly detail-oriented and quality-focused.

Cautious and thoughtful when making changes to a large, business-critical application.

Demonstrates end-to-end ownership and transparency around progress, risks, issues, and decisions.

Thinks ahead and asks: What could this change impact? What might we be missing? Is everything covered?

Able to balance delivery speed with quality, security, testing, and system stability.

Strong understanding of the entire system rather than focusing narrowly on assigned code.

Team & Delivery Environment

Team supports eight projects across two groups.

Works in a Scrum/Agile environment with three-week sprints.

Engineers are expected to participate across development, testing, DevOps, security remediation, and application support.

Close collaboration with internal stakeholders and the SEC.
