Job Summary

In this contingent resource assignment, you will support moderately complex Software Engineering initiatives involving enterprise cloud-native applications, microservices, event-driven architectures, and AI-enabled solutions.

The Senior Software Engineer will design, develop, deploy, and maintain scalable Java applications and APIs while collaborating with architects, product owners, and cross-functional technology teams. The role will contribute to AI and Generative AI integrations, production support, application modernization, and engineering productivity improvements.
Day-to-Day Responsibilities
Application Development

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable Java applications
• Apply object-oriented design principles and enterprise coding standards
• Build REST APIs and reusable backend services
• Develop and support Spring Boot and Spring Cloud applications
• Design microservices-based solutions
• Participate in technical design reviews and code reviews

Event-Driven Processing

• Build asynchronous solutions using Apache Kafka
• Develop and support event-driven integrations
• Troubleshoot message-processing, latency, and reliability issues
• Apply appropriate patterns for distributed data and service communication

Cloud-Native Engineering

• Containerize applications using Docker
• Deploy, scale, and troubleshoot applications on:
  • Kubernetes
  • OpenShift Container Platform
• Support cloud-native development and DevOps practices
• Work with CI/CD pipelines using:
  • Jenkins
  • GitHub Actions
  • Azure DevOps

AI-Enabled Application Development

• Integrate enterprise applications with LLM services and AI platforms
• Support solutions involving:
  • Azure AI Foundry
  • Azure Machine Learning
  • Azure Document Intelligence
  • Azure AI Search
  • Vertex AI
  • Document AI
  • LLM-based services
• Apply prompt-engineering and AI-assisted development techniques
• Build or integrate AI-powered application capabilities and automation
• Support RAG, vector search, and AI agent patterns

Integration and Data Services

• Design APIs and integration services
• Work with MongoDB and NoSQL data models
• Support data API development and enterprise integration platforms
• Implement appropriate authentication, authorization, and API-security controls

Production Support

• Debug application and infrastructure issues
• Perform performance tuning and root-cause analysis
• Support application reliability, availability, and security
• Monitor production health using available observability tools
• Produce technical documentation and operational guidance

Collaboration

• Partner with product owners, architects, analysts, security teams, and engineers
• Participate in Agile/Scrum ceremonies
• Contribute to delivery planning, technical discussions, and documentation
• Communicate technical concepts clearly to both technical and business audiences
