Job title: Lead AI Engineer (LLM/Generative AI)
Location: Austin, TX (Hybrid/Onsite)

Duration: Long term Contract

 

Position Summary

We are seeking an experienced Lead AI Engineer to design, build, and deploy enterprise-grade AI solutions powered by Large Language Models (LLMs) and Generative AI technologies. The ideal candidate will have 12+ years of overall software engineering experience, including 3+ years of hands-on experience developing AI/LLM-based applications. This role requires strong technical leadership, expertise in modern AI frameworks, and the ability to collaborate across engineering, product, and business teams to deliver scalable AI solutions.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the design, development, and deployment of enterprise AI and Generative AI applications.
  • Architect scalable AI solutions using Large Language Models (LLMs), Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG), AI agents, and vector databases.
  • Develop and optimize AI-powered applications for business use cases such as document intelligence, customer support, knowledge management, automation, and analytics.
  • Evaluate and integrate foundation models (OpenAI, Anthropic Claude, Google Gemini, Meta Llama, etc.) based on business and technical requirements.
  • Design prompt engineering strategies and implement model evaluation frameworks to improve response quality and reliability.
  • Build secure AI services using Python and modern backend technologies.
  • Develop APIs and microservices to integrate AI capabilities into enterprise platforms.
  • Implement MLOps/LLMOps practices for model deployment, monitoring, governance, and lifecycle management.
  • Collaborate with product managers, architects, data scientists, security teams, and business stakeholders to define AI roadmaps.
  • Mentor engineers and establish engineering best practices for AI development.
  • Stay current with emerging AI technologies, research, and industry trends.

 

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor''s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field (Master''s preferred).
  • 12+ years of software engineering experience.
  • 3+ years of hands-on experience building AI/LLM/Generative AI solutions.
  • Strong programming skills in Python.
  • Experience with LangChain, LangGraph, LlamaIndex, or similar orchestration frameworks.
  • Experience implementing Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) architectures.
  • Hands-on experience with vector databases such as Pinecone, Weaviate, Chroma, FAISS, or Milvus.
  • Experience with OpenAI, Azure OpenAI, Anthropic Claude, Google Gemini, or open-source LLMs.
  • Strong understanding of prompt engineering, embeddings, semantic search, and AI evaluation techniques.
  • Experience building REST APIs using FastAPI, Flask, or similar frameworks.
  • Knowledge of cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.
  • Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, and CI/CD pipelines.
  • Strong understanding of software architecture, design patterns, and distributed systems.
