Job Description
We are seeking an experienced Business Analyst with strong Utilities and Power Generation domain expertise to support business process analysis, requirements gathering, and technology initiatives within the power generation sector. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience working with power plants, generation operations, utility business processes, and enterprise applications supporting generation assets.
The candidate will work closely with business stakeholders, plant operations teams, engineering teams, IT teams, and technology vendors to translate business requirements into functional specifications and effective technology solutions.
Key Responsibilities
- Gather, analyze, document, and validate business requirements from power generation and utility stakeholders.
- Work closely with power plant operations, engineering, maintenance, asset management, and business teams.
- Analyze existing business processes and identify opportunities for process improvement and automation.
- Create BRDs, FRDs, user stories, process flows, use cases, and functional specifications.
- Translate business requirements into clear technical requirements for development and IT teams.
- Facilitate requirement workshops, stakeholder meetings, walkthroughs, and solution discussions.
- Support implementation and enhancement of applications used within power generation operations.
- Analyze workflows related to generation, plant maintenance, outages, work management, asset management, and operational reporting.
- Work with SMEs to understand plant processes, operational challenges, and business priorities.
- Assist with UAT planning, test case development, defect tracking, and business validation.
- Coordinate with technical teams during development, testing, deployment, and production support.
- Identify gaps between current and future-state processes and recommend improvements.
- Prepare process maps, data flows, business rules, and functional documentation.
- Support data analysis and reporting requirements related to power generation operations.
- Track requirements, dependencies, risks, issues, and change requests throughout the project lifecycle.
- Act as a liaison between business stakeholders and technical teams.
Required Skills
- 6+ years of experience as a Business Analyst.
- Strong experience in the Utilities / Energy industry, specifically Power Generation.
- Strong understanding of power plant operations and generation business processes.
- Experience gathering requirements from business and operational stakeholders.
- Strong knowledge of SDLC and Agile/Scrum methodologies.
- Experience creating:
- Business Requirements Documents (BRD)
- Functional Requirements Documents (FRD)
- User Stories
- Use Cases
- Process Flows
- Functional Specifications
- Strong analytical, communication, documentation, and stakeholder-management skills.
- Experience with Jira, Confluence, MS Visio, Excel, and/or similar BA tools.
- Experience with UAT, test planning, and defect management.
- Ability to work with both business and technical teams.
Power Generation Domain Knowledge – Required

- Experience with SAP PM, SAP EAM, Maximo, Oracle Utilities, or other EAM/utility applications.
- Experience working with SCADA, DCS, EMS, or plant operational systems.
- Knowledge of utility data, generation reporting, and operational analytics.
- Experience with SQL and data analysis.
- Experience with Power BI or similar reporting/visualization tools.
- Experience working with large-scale utility transformation or modernization projects.
- Experience supporting integrations between plant systems and enterprise applications.
