Location: Reading (Hybrid Working + Supplier Visits)
Salary: £40,000 - £50,000 + Benefits
Are you a Quality Engineer looking to join a growing manufacturing business where you'll have the opportunity to make a real impact across both internal quality and supplier performance?
We're recruiting on behalf of an established manufacturing company seeking a proactive Quality Engineer to support continuous improvement initiatives, drive quality standards, and work closely with suppliers to ensure products consistently meet customer expectations.
The Role
As a Quality Engineer, you'll play a key role in maintaining and improving quality systems across the business. Working closely with production, engineering, customers and suppliers, you'll investigate quality issues, implement corrective actions, and help drive continuous improvement throughout the manufacturing process.
This is a hybrid position based near Reading, with regular travel to supplier sites as required.
Key Responsibilities
● Investigate internal and external quality issues, identifying root causes and implementing corrective actions
● Work closely with suppliers to improve quality performance and resolve supplier-related non-conformances
● Conduct supplier visits and audits to ensure compliance with quality standards
● Support continuous improvement projects using Lean and quality improvement methodologies
● Analyse quality data and produce reports on KPIs and performance trends
● Participate in internal audits and support external customer and certification audits
● Review manufacturing processes and identify opportunities to improve product quality and reduce waste
● Collaborate with Engineering, Production and Purchasing teams to ensure quality requirements are achieved
● Maintain quality documentation and ensure compliance with relevant industry standards
Requirements
● Previous experience as a Quality Engineer within a manufacturing environment
● Experience working with suppliers and managing supplier quality issues
● Strong understanding of root cause analysis techniques (8D, 5 Whys, Fishbone, etc.)
● Knowledge of quality management systems and manufacturing processes
● Experience carrying out audits would be advantageous
● Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
● Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel to supplier sites
